Job Summary
We're looking for a Solutions Engineer who can take architectural designs and turn them into production-ready infrastructure. You'll be implementing cloud environments, network hardware, telephony systems, and security controls for clients who depend on these systems running reliably.
This role requires solid technical fundamentals and the ability to work independently. You'll handle complex deployments, troubleshoot multi-layer issues, and be responsible for the quality of what goes into production.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Implementation
Cloud & Virtual Desktop:
- Deploy and configure Azure infrastructure (VNets, NSGs, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Azure Firewall)
- Implement Azure Virtual Desktop environments including host pools, session hosts, FSLogix profiles, and MSIX app attach
- Configure Microsoft 365 tenants: Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune MDM/MAM policies
- Set up and manage Windows Server infrastructure (AD DS, DNS, DHCP, DFS, PKI)
- Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions (Azure Backup, ASR, 3rd Party Backup Systems)
Microsoft 365 Migrations & Security:
- Plan and execute tenant-to-tenant migrations (M365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)
- Migrate from on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online (cutover, staged, hybrid)
- Perform PST imports, mailbox migrations, and public folder migrations
- Conduct M365 security uplift projects: enable MFA, implement Conditional Access policies, configure DLP and sensitivity labels
- Deploy Microsoft Defender suite (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Identity)
- Configure information protection, retention policies, and eDiscovery
Network Infrastructure:
- Deploy and configure enterprise network hardware: switches, routers, wireless access points
- Implement VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, and network segmentation
- Configure site-to-site VPNs and client VPN solutions
- Set up and manage firewalls
- Implement network monitoring and management solutions
Voice & Telephony:
- Deploy IP phone systems
- Configure SIP trunks, call routing, IVR menus, and voicemail systems
- Implement call queues, auto attendants, and call recording
- Migrate from legacy PBX systems to modern VoIP/UCaaS platforms
- Troubleshoot voice quality issues (QoS, jitter, latency, packet loss)
Security & Compliance Implementation
- Deploy Essential 8 controls: application whitelisting, patch management, MFA, application hardening
- Configure Conditional Access policies, DLP policies, and sensitivity labels
- Implement endpoint protection (Defender for Endpoint, Intune compliance policies)
- Conduct security assessments and implement remediation plans
- Support security audits with evidence collection and remediation
Automation & Scripting
- Write PowerShell scripts for deployment automation, user provisioning, reporting, M365 migrations, and maintenance tasks
- Create automated workflows for common MSP tasks
- Document scripts and build reusable modules for the team
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Create detailed technical documentation: architecture diagrams, runbooks, configuration baselines, troubleshooting guides
- Maintain accurate change logs and configuration management records
- Document migration plans, cutover procedures, and rollback plans
- Train junior team members and clients on implemented solutions
Technical Requirements
Core Skills:
- 3–5 years hands-on experience in MSP or similar environment with diverse technical implementations
- Proven experience with Microsoft 365 administration and migrations
- Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewall rules
- Hands-on experience deploying and configuring network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, APs)
- Experience with VoIP/IP telephony systems (any platform)
- Windows Server administration: Active Directory, Group Policy, file services, certificate services
- PowerShell scripting for automation (not just running scripts—writing them)
- Experience with Azure services and Azure Virtual Desktop or similar VDI platforms
Nice to Have:
- Microsoft certifications: AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), SC-200 (Security Operations Analyst Associate)
- Experience with tenant-to-tenant migration tools
- VoIP certifications (3CX, Teams Voice Engineer)
- Exposure to compliance frameworks: Essential 8, ISO 27001, NIST CSF
What We Offer
Compensation & Growth
- Competitive salary with clear progression criteria
- Funded certification paths (Microsoft, security, cloud, networking, voice)
- Direct mentoring from Solutions Architects
- Defined career path to Solutions Architect or Security Specialist roles
Work Environment
- Work from home flexibility with collaborative team culture
- Some client site visits required for hardware deployments and complex implementations
- Access to lab environments and test systems
- Modern tooling and technology stack
- Autonomy to solve problems your way (within architectural standards)
The Team
- Senior Solutions Architects with deep technical expertise
- Collaborative environment where asking questions is encouraged
- Regular technical knowledge sharing sessions
- Clients who value quality work and long-term relationships
What This Role Isn't
- This isn't helpdesk or basic user support
- You won't be fixing password resets or installing printer drivers
- We don't micromanage—you'll need to self-direct and problem-solve
- Not a "follow the script" role—you'll need to think critically
- Not a pure remote role—occasional client site work is required
