About the role

Epiphany School seeks a seasoned learning skills specialist teacher to join a small department of three on a part-time basis beginning August 2025. The person in this role will work across grade levels (K – 5^th) to create and deliver individualized programs for students in the Learning Skills Program and at times offer small group or in-class support to students in the classroom. This includes planning and delivering curriculum in a remedial as well as classroom setting, teaching and supervising students, assessing and evaluating students, managing the learning skills department resources and materials, communicating with families in a variety of settings, and participating in robust professional learning and school community events.    

The individual who will be successful in this role will uphold Epiphany School values, bring a growth mindset with a wide range of knowledge and experience in supporting those with learning differences, delight in teaching children in this stage of development, work to develop student efficacy and self-advocacy, and contribute to strong and positive collaboration within a team.  

This is a part-time (20 hours/week), exempt, academic year position, reporting to the Upper Elementary Assistant Head of School.  

Location 

The person in this role must work in-person on the school campus in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Epiphany School does not cover or reimburse relocation costs and/or expenses.  

Standard school operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 – 4:00pm. Part-time schedule to be determined.  

Primary Job Responsibilities 

• Plan, deliver, and assess remedial or curricular support sessions for children based on their academic needs, strengths, affinities, and learning preferences 

• Write progress reports for students in learning skills sessions 

• Co-facilitate parent/teacher conferences of learning skills students 

• Create, share (with parents and teachers), and implement Student Success Plans to address specific student needs in K – 5^th grade  

• Participate and contribute to the learning skills spring screening process 

• Score, assess, and make recommendations for placement in the learning skills program and for continued monitoring 

• Initiate and track reading and math assessments 

• As needed, provide academic assessments for students who may enter the program. 

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to assess student behavior and learning; plan instruction, including individualization and differentiation 

• Work with classroom teachers to implement differentiated instruction based on students’ needs. 

• Support classroom teachers in implementing accommodations and modifications afforded to students in the learning skills program with learning disabilities and with different learning needs. 

• Stay current in instructional approaches to be a resource to classroom teachers 

• Communicate consistently and clearly with a variety of audiences about sensitive student concerns 

• Contribute to the content of classroom teacher reports based on extent of work with students

• Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds and learning differences 

• Assess student progress and maintain effective record keeping procedures  

• Attend grade-level and faculty meetings as scheduled 

• Provide recess supervision as scheduled 

• Participate in the school community, including professional learning, service learning, and community events 

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor

Typical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or related field required 

• Teaching certificate and endorsement in grade or field required 

• A minimum of 5+ years of elementary or middle school classroom teaching experience preferred  

• Training and experience in a multi-sensory phonic approach to reading, such as Slingerland, Lindamood-Bell, Linguistic Remedies or Wilson Reading is preferred  

• Must have excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills 

• Must have experience in the integration of technology in teaching practice 

• Ability to handle competing priorities and maintain professionalism, attention to detail, and process improvement strategies in a creative and changing environment 

• Excellent oral, written, and presentational skills in the English language; fluency in additional languages a plus 

• Computer savvy in Windows environment, including MSFT Suite programs 

• Proactive in identifying process improvement opportunities 

• Valid CPR/First Aid certification (not required at time of application – new hires will have time to complete if needed) 

Compensation & Benefits 

The pro-rated salary range for this role is between $38,448 and $64,687 based on years of experience, education, and professional development credits according to our school’s Faculty Compensation System pay scale. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors and will ask the intended hire for documentation to verify the correct pay lane and step. 

While this role is not eligible to receive the full benefits package, these benefits are still included:
