Summary

The Truck Driver is responsible to operate and load/unload vehicles and transport goods, materials, and passengers throughout the GTA in company or rental vehicles. In addition, there may be some general labour tasks in the warehouse to assist packing/unpacking cases with AV equipment for events.


This position is based out of the EPiQVision Warehouse and is in-person/onsite.


Job Duties:

  • Operate and drive vehicles to transport goods, materials, or passengers over varying distances
  • Operate lift gates, loading dock plates, and ramps in a safe manner
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
  • Maintain contact with dispatcher in accordance with travel plan and report to them on arrival and departure of each location
  • Notify dispatchers of vehicle problems by reporting vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Provide feedback to management regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems
  • Test vehicle before and after shift to ensure that lights, brakes, windshield wipers, and tire pressure are in proper working condition
  • Clean vehicle cab after every shift and top up wind washer fluid and DEF fluid as needed
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections on vehicle and load, ensuring safety and roadworthiness
  • Adhere to established safe working procedures and wear the proper safety equipment at all times
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads in accordance with established safety requirements
  • Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
  • Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift, including daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, and hours of service, following applicable provincial and federal regulations
  • Manually load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, and lifting devices
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Comply with company, industry, and legislative health & safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Inform your assigned manager of any event emergencies, set backs, unresolved issues, and last minute client requests 
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
  • Maintain a cooperative and sensitive teamwork attitude when dealing with others
  • Other duties as required by company

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent training
  • 3+ years of truck driving experience driving 3-ton trucks or heavier, straight/box trucks
  • 3+ years of insured commercial driving experience is an asset
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian driving rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a live event environment is an asset
  • Proficiency with the use of computer hardware, software, and programs, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • Ability to communicate orally and written at a professional working proficiency level or greater in the English language
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Knowledge of current workplace health & safety regulations, fire & building codes, and AODA regulations in relation to the live entertainment industry is an asset


Working Conditions

  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and other physically demanding conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and written at a professional working proficiency level or greater in the English language with clients, vendors, and company staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Medium to high levels of stress and pressure.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible and additional hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Attendance and participation in company issued training.
  • Exposure to loud noises.

Compensation

  • $25 - $28 per hour
