Director of Agents

Albert helps chemists change the world by building technology that understands how they work. As chemists ourselves, we know what it’s like when software doesn’t work the way you do — stuck with systems built by people who never spent a day at the bench. That’s why we created Albert OS, the first AI-native operating system for materials science, designed to remove every obstacle between curiosity and discovery.

We’re looking for an ambitious and results-driven Sr. Manager / Director of Agents to join our growing team. This role, with a focus on identifying, building, and delivering agentic solutions that compress the time our teams spend on work that does not require human judgment, will play a key part in driving successful outcomes for Albert’s most strategically important customers and internal initiatives.

If you're passionate about cutting-edge technology and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, we want to hear from you.

What you'll do

Strategy & Delivery

  • Identify and prioritize agent opportunities across the business through structured discovery: conduct interviews with ICs and managers to surface pain points, map workflows, and determine whether the right solution is an agent, a process improvement, or a systems fix.
  • Own the agents team’s opportunity backlog — sequence work against business impact, maintain clear priorities across a large concurrent workload, and bring rigor to how work gets scoped and initiated.
  • Identify business process improvement opportunities through ongoing stakeholder engagement; surface structured findings to relevant managers and functional leads, and follow through on alignment and action.
  • Partner with the systems team to surface data and process gaps that block agent readiness; translate findings into clear, actionable asks and ensure foundations are in place before any agent depends on them.

Execution & Collaboration

  • Build production-grade agentic workflows, prompts, and skills — this is a builder role; you write complete agent specs and own the hands-on work, not just the direction.
  • Apply structured problem-solving across a high-volume workload; maintain sequencing, visibility, and accountability on all active work without losing precision on individual deliverables.
  • Recognize when a problem is not an agent problem — work closely with the systems team to address gaps in data, tooling, or integrations when that is the right path forward.

Leadership & Impact

  • Own outcomes, not solutions — enable, train, and support the people who use what gets built. A workflow is not done until it is in use, trusted, and delivering measurable results.
  • Operate with confident executive presence across the full range of stakeholders — from coaching an IC through a new workflow to briefing the C-suite on agent strategy — with clarity and conviction at every level.
  • Change how the organization thinks about capacity — help answer whether a need is a people need, a systems need, or an agents need, and make that question a meaningful one across the org.

You will have

  • 6+ years of experience in a technical, operational, or solutions role with a track record of building and delivering against business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to write production-grade prompts, skills, and multi-step agentic workflows; hands-on experience with MCP integration, tool calling, and LLM-based systems.
  • Strong business acumen — ability to read a pipeline, understand where value is being lost, and connect agent investments to efficiency and revenue outcomes.
  • Experience conducting structured discovery interviews with ICs and executives to surface pain points, map workflows, and prioritize solutions.
  • Highly structured thinker with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a large, concurrent workload without losing precision or accountability.
  • Background in RevOps, Sales Operations, Product Management, business process improvement, or commercial systems preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving adoption, not just delivery — including training, enablement, and change management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident executive presence with the ability to engage credibly at every level from IC to C-suite.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones.

Key Competencies

  • Systems Thinking: Maps workflows and evaluates the full system before proposing a solution — knows that not every problem is an agent problem, and knows what “agent-ready” looks like before building.
  • Grit: Self-directed builder who owns outcomes end-to-end; maintains high standards across a complex, concurrent workload and drives progress without waiting for a complete picture.
  • Innovator: Applies AI as one tool among many; selects the minimum viable solution that solves the real problem, and has the conviction to say no — even under pressure — when the answer is not an agent.
  • Empathy: Obsesses over understanding pain points; listens deeply across personas and levels before proposing solutions, and builds for the humans on the other side of every workflow.
  • Leadership: Drives outcomes across the org without positional authority; earns trust through delivery and judgment, and operates with low ego and high conviction.
  • Adaptability: Moves fluidly between hands-on building and executive-level framing; neither feels like a stretch, and altitude changes don’t change the standard.
