Chemistry Grading TA

About This Role

In this position, you will assist professors with grading a variety of coursework, including lab reports, quizzes, homework assignments, and exams.

Expectations 

  • Communicate with your instructor and ask questions about how they want assignments graded prior to starting to grade.
  • Ask for clarification when you are unsure about how to grade a particular item.
  • Grade papers away from other distractions as they produce inefficient work and can cause changes in grading between students.
  • Keep all aspects of grading (scores, student names, general performance,…) private from others.
  • When possible, grade the front page, with the name, and then flip all assignments to the next page and grade blind of the owner of each.
  • Once you have begun grading an assignment or a problem, do not stop until you have finished that portion completely.
  • Above all, be fair to each student and be consistent.
  • Return assignments as directed by instructor. 
  • Students must complete FERPA training and abide by school FERPA policies. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications

  • Must be a current Bethel Student
  • Applicants must have successfully completed the course or an equivalent course as determined by the department.
  • Applicants must be recommended for the position by a professor in the department. 


Work Environment

Grading may be completed remotely if approved by course instructor.


Physical Demands

Must be able to remain seated for extended periods (2+ hours).

Hours will vary based on the needs of the professor.

Hourly Wage: $14.25 per hour
