Teaching Assistant for Advanced Human Gross Anatomy

About the role

  • The Human Gross Anatomy TA is responsible for the faculty with a variety of tasks within the Advanced Human Gross Anatomy course.  Tasks include - assisting students in the course with questions, assisting with dissections, laboratory facility cleaning, assisting with lab practical tests, etc.


Qualifications·        

  • Must have taken either BIO 409/410 or BIO 600/600L.
  • Must be able to work in the unique human cadaver environment.
  • For BIO 409 – TAs must be able to work every weekday either in the morning and/or the afternoon sessions during the month of January.
  • For BIO 600 – TAs must be available to work weekdays from late May until the middle of August.
  • Ability to communicate well with others  
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
  • Must be a current student at Bethel University.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the Gross Anatomy TA will work indoors in a controlled and temperate environment.  While working in the cadaver lab space, the TA will also encounter a variety of odors including chemical odors that are below or within acceptable exposure limits.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Gross Anatomy TA to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and routinely lift/move at least 50+ pounds.
  • Be able to stand and work on concrete surfaces for long periods of time.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.

Expected Hours of Work:

The work expectations for Gross Anatomy TAs during the January session includes:

  • Must be able to work daily Monday through Friday for 4-7 hours per day depending on availability and workloads.
  • Student employees may not work over 20 hours per week during the school year among all Bethel employment.

The work expectations for Gross Anatomy TAs during the summer PA session includes:

  • Must be able to work daily Monday through Friday for 4-6 hours per day with occasional days requiring up to 8 hours of time. 
  • Student employees may not work over 40 hours per week during the summer among all Bethel employment.
