Hi 👋 I’m William, founder of Braintrance.
At Braintrance, we're building a new form of digital media that captures moments in three dimensions instead of flat images or video.
Braintrance exists to preserve the world as it is lived. Just as photography defined the last century and video defined the internet era, volumetric media will define the next generation of storytelling. It allows culture, environments, and human experience to be preserved with depth, presence, and context.
At Braintrance, we are building the tools and infrastructure that make this possible. By combining advances in AI, spatial computing, and immersive media, we are enabling a new medium for documenting civilization itself.
This is not just a technology platform. It is cultural technology.
If you want to help define the next primitive of media and are excited by the intersection of AI, culture, and immersive computing, join us.
About the role
As a Design Engineer, you’ll be at the center of how we build our product. You’ll own entire surfaces of the product: viewers, editors, profiles, feeds. You’ll prototype new ideas and bring structure to chaos, designing interfaces that bring the future to the present.
We work in person, 5 days a week in our San Francisco office. Collaboration here is fast, noisy (in the best way), and high-trust. We move quickly, break things intentionally, and fix them just as fast.
What you'll do
- Build product-facing and internal tools using TypeScript, React, Swift, and Tailwind
- Design and implement intuitive ways for new users to interface with 3D graphics on 2D screens
- Develop reusable components and own our emerging design system
- Prototype new features, test them with customers, and ship fast
- Help define our approach to UI architecture, scaling, and visual systems
- Work closely with our founders, engineers, and customers
- Contribute to a product culture that values clarity, speed, and leverage
Qualifications
- Strong experience in React, TypeScript, CSS, Swift, and modern frontend workflows
- Product taste: you know when something feels right and why
- Systems thinking: you like building primitives, not one-offs
- Experience designing and building consumer experiences
- Comfortable owning full features from wireframe to code
- Bonus: experience with Figma, LLMs, conversational interfaces, or backend TypeScript
- 2–4+ years experience preferred, but we’re flexible for the right person
- Experience with WebXR and Mixed Reality devices is a massive plus
How we work
- We optimize for leverage. That means great internal tooling, fast CI/CD, and code that scales across many customer types
- We believe in deep ownership. Engineers here talk to users, design features, and ship fast
- We value clarity over process. You’ll spend most of your day building, not waiting on decisions
- We move in person. We’re a tight-knit team that moves fast and solves problems together
What we offer
- Competitive salary + meaningful equity
- An exciting early-stage startup defining the next generation of culture technology
- Strong In-person culture, fast feedback loops, and zero bureaucracy
- A small founding team
- Full health, dental, vision, 401k, and unlimited PTO
- Tools budget, coffee budget, covered lunch and dinner, whatever-you-need-to-be-great budget
El rango de pago para este puesto es el siguiente:
120,000 - 200,000 USD por year (San Francisco)
