About The Role

As a Yard Technician (Temporary) in the Power & Construction Equipment division, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized equipment yard over a 3–6 month period. You will be responsible for ensuring rental equipment is staged, inspected, and ready for customers, while supporting basic mechanical tasks under supervision. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work outdoors, values safety, and wants to gain experience in equipment operations and yard maintenance during a temporary assignment.

What You'll Do

• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe equipment yard, including general housekeeping, debris removal, and organizing equipment and materials.
• Stage and arrange rental equipment so it is easy to access, inspect, and deploy for customer orders.
• Assist with basic equipment inspections, including checking fluid levels, tire condition, visual damage, and general operational readiness under guidance from senior staff.
• Perform light equipment cleaning and detailing as needed to keep units rental-ready.
• Support basic mechanical tasks such as minor adjustments, part changes, or simple maintenance activities as directed by technicians or supervisors.
• Move, park, and reposition equipment safely around the yard, following all company and safety procedures.
• Help load and unload equipment from trucks or trailers, using appropriate tools and equipment when required.
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and yard traffic rules to minimize risk to yourself and others.
• Report any equipment damage, safety hazards, or maintenance needs promptly to the appropriate team members.
• Collaborate with mechanics, drivers, and yard staff to support efficient daily operations and on-time equipment delivery.
• Complete basic documentation or checklists for equipment status, yard inspections, and work performed as required.
• Assist with other yard or shop duties as assigned to support overall department operations during the temporary assignment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Approximately 1 year of work experience in a labor, warehouse, equipment yard, or similar hands-on environment preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; able to meet and maintain insurance criteria for insurability.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and comfort working around tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Prior mechanical or equipment experience preferred but not required; willingness to learn and follow instructions closely.
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate yard and material-handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, loaders, or similar), if required and trained.
• Strong commitment to safety, including following all company policies, procedures, and use of PPE.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work the full temporary assignment of approximately 3–6 months.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, mechanics, and other team members.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and periodic drug screening in accordance with company policy.
