CCO’s Co-op / Gap Semester position at National Headquarters is a short-term opportunity for students or young adults seeking meaningful, hands-on experience in a faith-filled workplace. As a Co-op / Gap Semester Missionary, you will bring your energy, creativity, and love for Jesus into the heart of CCO’s mission. You will serve alongside a dynamic team of CCO missionaries, contribute to real projects, and support the teams that help make campus ministry, events, operations, communications,  and national initiatives possible. The team you serve on will depend on your skills and CCO needs, but you are sure to make a difference.

This role is designed for someone who wants to grow professionally, spiritually, and personally while discerning their next steps. Whether you are completing a co-op term, taking a gap semester, or exploring how your skills can serve the mission of the Church, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience while being part of something bigger than yourself.

This is not just a semester off. It is a semester on mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve on a National Headquarters team that supports CCO’s mission and national work across Canada.
• Contribute to projects, events, communications, administration, operations, or other initiatives that advance the work of the movement, as assigned.
• Support staff, missionaries, supporters, and national initiatives through faithful and professional behind-the-scenes service.
• Collaborate with staff and teams across departments, working both independently and as part of a team.
• Use your gifts, creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills to help meet the practical needs of the mission.
• Participate in CCO training, team life, prayer, and opportunities for personal, professional, and missionary formation.
• Grow in CCO’s tenets and core values while contributing to the mission of the New Evangelization through the work of National Headquarters.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Required
• • A personal commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of evangelization.
  • Willingness to proclaim Jesus and help form Christ-centred, Spirit-filled leaders through service to CCO’s national mission.
  • A desire to support the work of evangelization, campus ministry, missionary formation, and the growth of the movement from National Headquarters.
  • Moderately developed communication, interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to serve as part of a team and receive formation, training, and feedback.
  • Openness to being placed on any National Headquarters team based on ministry needs, skills, experience, co-op requirements, and fit.
  • Availability to begin employment on the communicated start date, and willingness to raise the necessary funds for employment.

• Preferred
• • Previous involvement with CCO as a participant, leader, or volunteer.
  • Experience leading or participating in CCO faith studies.
  • Experience in ministry related to young adults, especially campus ministry. 
  • Experience in administration, communication, event planning and execution, or project coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, serve others, organize details, support a team, and follow through on commitments.
  • Comfort using common administrative tools and technology, such as email, calendars, documents, spreadsheets, databases, and online forms.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Opportunity to work in a faith-based team environment, participating in prayer, praise, and worship, Mass, and Adoration in the workplace.
• Wage: Minimum wage of the province of employment, paid as a monthly salary.
• Location: CCO’s National Headquarters, Ottawa, ON 
• Department: Determined during the hiring process based on best fit
• Responsibility Level: 1
• Working hours: Full-Time: 40-hour work week (in office).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• All employees of CCO are required to participate in the mission of the New Evangelization within the Catholic Church and work toward the propagation of the Gospel. This includes taking the initiative to lead CCO Catholic Faith studies, share the kerygma (through tools like the Ultimate Relationship booklet), and/or participate in the evangelization efforts of CCO, including opportunities to participate in CCO Missions.
• Actively practicing Catholic, in good standing, willing to uphold Catholic moral teachings, while leading a life that exhibits fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Therefore, all CCO employees must be baptized Catholic.
• Maintain an active sacramental and spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to personal prayer, reading Scripture, regular confession, and Mass attendance.
• Must be able to meet CCO’s Responsible Ministry Policies.
• Must be compliant with all applicable Personnel Policies.
• All CCO staff have the unique opportunity and privilege to rely on God’s providence. The successful candidate will develop their own team of financial and prayer supporters who contribute directly to the funds for their salary. • Contract Term: Negotiable depending on co-op requirements, typically 3-4 months.
