Assistant Campus Leader

Run the floor. Hold the standard when it's your shift.

We're hiring an Assistant Campus Leader for our Melbourne CBD campus. When you're on shift, the campus is yours: the team, the floor, the pace of the day, and the safety of every student in the building. You keep the campus running to the Contour standard, whether or not your Campus Leader is on site.

You're the first person our Campus Experience Coordinators (CECs) turn to, for a quick question, a tricky parent or backup when it gets busy. They get a real answer from you, not "check with the Campus Leader". When a tutor calls in sick or two classes land in one room, you fix it live so nothing falls over.

This is the step before Campus Leader. You'll work alongside your Campus Leader, back up their coaching with the team, and build the track record to run a campus of your own.

Who We Are

Contour was founded in 2020 by students who saw that the quality of your education was basically a lottery. Teachers stretched thin by the system, learning materials that varied from school to school, and support that stopped the moment you left the classroom.

We began with 5 students in a room. Today 15,000+ students have trusted Contour as their academic partners, and we've grown to 500+ team members across 10 campuses in Australia. In 2025 we ranked #8 on the AFR Fast 100 of fastest-growing companies.

We've produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the world-record UCAT scorer, and placed 850+ students into medical and dental schools across Australia.

Contour is made up of three brands:

  • Contour Education → academic performance in high school
  • Contour MedPrep → entry into medical and dental schools
  • Contour TestPrep → entry into selective and scholarship schools

Contour is built by students, for students.

What You Will Do
You lead the campus during your shift and keep it running to standard.

  • Shift leadership: Run your shift end to end, from the team to the floor to the pace of the day, so the campus runs the same whether or not your Campus Leader is in.
  • Student safety: Complete safety checks every shift, act on anything that needs immediate attention, and know exactly when to escalate.
  • CEC support: Be the first point of call for CECs on your shift, and reinforce the coaching your Campus Leader is building with the team.
  • Student and parent experience: Handle walk-ins, trials, reschedules and the everyday moments where families decide whether they trust us.
  • Classes, rosters and resources: Fix in-shift class and roster issues as they happen, and have printed materials and resources ready before every class starts.
  • Campus standards: Keep the campus clean, organised and class-ready. The basics, done right every time.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience in a customer-facing role (education, retail, hospitality or similar), including time as a shift lead, supervisor or senior team member on the floor.
  • A calm head when something goes wrong, and good judgement on what to handle yourself versus escalate.
  • Clear, warm communication with students, parents, tutors and teammates.
  • An eye for detail: you notice the missing class pack before the class, not after.
  • Comfort solving roster and room problems on the spot.
  • The confidence to support and direct a team on shift, even without formal direct reports.
  • Availability across weeknights and weekends when classes run.
  • A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Genuine care for students and families.
  • Ambition to step into a Campus Leader role.

Why You Will Love It

  • Growth: A clear path into Campus Leader as you build your track record leading shifts.
  • Ownership: Your shift is yours to run, with real calls to make from day one.
  • Mentorship: Work side by side with a Campus Leader who's invested in your development.
  • Culture: Join a founder-led group that's grown to 500+ team members and 15,000+ students since 2020.
  • Reward: Competitive salary of $75,000 AUD + super, plus extra leave, EAP access, and lifestyle perks.

Application process

  1. Submit your application
  2. Shortlisted candidates will complete a behavioural and video interview assessment
  3. Final in-person interview

If you've led a shift before and care about getting the small things right for students and families, we'd love to hear from you.
