Furniture is a business of long bets. We order from overseas months before a customer clicks buy, which means a forecast that's off costs us either a stockout or capital sitting in a warehouse. As we expand into new markets and new product lines, getting those calls right becomes harder and matters more. This internship sits on exactly that problem.

The mission of the Data Science Intern at Cozey

Your mission is to help Cozey build a world-class demand forecasting and supply chain planning capability, one that gets the right products ordered in the right quantities at the right time.

You'll work at the intersection of data science, demand planning, and supply chain, turning data into decisions that keep our shelves stocked and our capital working. That means testing and evaluating forecasting models, digging into where they break down, and helping turn forecasts and inventory targets into purchase order recommendations someone can actually act on.

We're looking for someone comfortable with code and data, rigorous about details, and curious enough to challenge how things currently work, who's excited to be part of a growing Canadian start-up with very large ambitions.

What you'll be doing:

• Work closely with the Data Science team to support demand and supply planning initiatives through data-driven analysis.
• Test and evaluate demand forecasting models, analyze the results, and identify where they can be improved.
• Help optimize purchase order decisions, turning demand forecasts and inventory targets into actionable planning recommendations.
• Validate, analyze, and prepare the datasets that support demand and supply planning.
• Investigate data quality issues and gaps, and build validation checks that make our planning data more reliable.
• Contribute to automation and process improvement work alongside the Demand, Supply, and Data Science teams, on real business problems with real stakes.

What we're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in industrial engineering or a related quantitative field.
• Strong English proficiency, as this role reports to an English-speaking manager and daily collaboration happens in English.
• Comfort with coding and working with data, and curiosity about new tools and technologies.
• Eagerness to get hands-on with forecasting, machine learning, optimization, and supply chain analytics.
• High standards and pride in getting things right. You believe small, compounding improvements drive big results.
• Integrity and accountability. When you spot an issue, you flag it, own it, and see it through.
• Relentless curiosity, with the customer in mind in every detail. You dig into root causes, challenge "that's just how it is," and remember that accurate forecasts mean products in stock when customers want them and capital spent where it counts.
