DOOR

Senior iOS Engineer

What is the purpose of this role?

This role is responsible for building and advancing DOOR’s iOS-based smart access platform, enabling seamless interaction between users and connected devices like smart locks, thermostats, sensors, and intercoms. The position plays a critical part in delivering reliable, real-time, and intuitive mobile experiences that power modern, connected living environments.

What is the role?

This is a technical iOS Engineering role focused on owning features end-to-end across UI, business logic, and hardware communication layers. The engineer will develop and maintain IoT and Bluetooth-enabled device experiences, including pairing, firmware updates, and real-time state management.

The role operates within a modular Swift codebase, leveraging modern technologies like SwiftUI and async/await to build scalable, high-performance applications. It requires strong experience integrating hardware or IoT devices, maintaining clean architecture, and writing robust unit tests—particularly for asynchronous workflows.

This engineer will also be expected to leverage AI tools as part of their daily workflow to enhance productivity, code quality, and development efficiency. Exposure to watchOS, widgets, or real-time communication technologies is a plus.

Who is DOOR?

DOOR (formerly Latch) is unlocking the next era of Building Intelligence. We combine premium hardware, intuitive software, and automated operations into one seamless platform—helping multifamily properties run more efficiently, grow revenue, and deliver smarter, more connected living experiences. From smart access and in-unit automation to building-wide controls, DOOR empowers owners, operators, and property teams to reduce overhead, protect asset value, and stand out in a competitive market.

We believe smarter buildings make life simpler. At DOOR, you’ll help shape a future where buildings anticipate needs, operate effortlessly, and quietly improve life for everyone inside.

What will you do?

  • Own features end-to-end: UI, business logic, and hardware communication layers
  • Integrate and maintain IoT and BLE device flows: pairing, firmware updates, real-time device state.
  • Work on proximity-based and remote experiences
  • Uphold and evolve a unidirectional, state-management-driven architecture across a large package-based codebase.
  • Write thorough unit tests; hold the bar on coverage and code quality

What do you bring to DOOR?

  • Production Swift: fluent with modern concurrency (async/await, actors), declarative UI (SwiftUI), and clean state management patterns
  • Hands-on experience integrating IoT or hardware devices on iOS — Bluetooth Low Energy, background modes, or similar real-world connectivity challenges
  • Strong testing discipline: unit testing async code and side effects is normal for you
  • Experience building and maintaining modular codebases with clear dependency boundaries.
  • We expect every engineer on our team to be proficient at using AI tools as a core part of their daily workflow: writing, debugging, and reviewing code, navigating large codebases, generating tests, and accelerating the parts of the job that used to just take time.

What is required (travel & physical requirements)?

  • Location: Must be based in South America (preference for Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, or Chile)
  • Must be able to work fully remote and align with U.S. time zones (Eastern/Central hours)
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • This role will be engaged as an independent contractor; candidates must be able to invoice for services and manage their own taxes locally.

DOOR understands that job requirements sometimes exclude people who identify with historically marginalized groups from applying to jobs for which they are qualified. Even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements listed, or if you achieved these requirements through unconventional channels, we encourage you to apply.
