About The Role
Join ESS Metron and provide instruction and leadership to employees and customers in the areas of customer service, troubleshooting, startups, parts, field service and OEM warranty assistance.  Proficient with electrical diagnostic and trending test equipment. Specializations in Data Center CMX and IST is a plus.  Provide technical training for customers, representatives, and employees on new and existing products. Prime Power, Navy Nuke, NETA Level 3, Nicet Level 3, Industrial Electricians (Master), OEM Techs\Eng and Electrical Engineers will be considered. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role that requires strong electrical knowledge, independent problem-solving, and a willingness to travel up to 30–40% of the time.

What You'll Do

  • Champion a Safety First culture at all times.
  • Provide technical support to customers via phone and email including troubleshooting, drawings, and general technical assistance.
  • Perform field service including warranty work, commissioning, acceptance testing, integrated system tests, protective relay settings, and functional tests on multiple OEM products.
  • Conduct functional and reliability testing of completed controllers and custom-built controls; troubleshoot to the component level.
  • Perform final inspection and QC inspection of completed equipment.
  • Complete new product research, development, and evaluation.
  • Plan, layout, and perform specialized work of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Act as a consultant or advisor to customers, engineers, and other employees.
  • Deliver technical training to customers, representatives, and employees on new and existing products.
  • Assist the engineering department with research, development, and evaluation of new equipment.
  • Attend customer safety meetings and ensure site safety compliance per ESS Metron and customer guidelines.
  • Drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Travel may include weekends and/or holidays; extended travel periods up to 30–40% of the time.


What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar a plus.
  • 4–5 years of experience in electrical equipment manufacturing (electromechanical assembly, testing, etc.).
  • Background in Prime Power, Navy Nuke, NETA Level 3, NICET Level 3, Master Electrician, OEM Tech/Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency with electrical diagnostic and trending test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience working with 12 VDC to 125 VDC and 120 VAC to 38kVAC.
  • Ability to troubleshoot relay logic and PLC-based circuits.
  • Across-the-line and reduced current motor control troubleshooting and testing.
  • Variable frequency drive (VFD) control troubleshooting and testing.
  • Switchboard troubleshooting and testing.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and navigate PLC and HMI software for Allen Bradley, Siemens, and GE programmable logic controllers.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 20, NFPA 25, NFPA 70, UL50, UL508, UL891, UL1558, UL1773, Metal-Clad SWGR, IEEE, and NEC.
  • Ability to clearly and logically function test in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel on short notice for emergency service work.
  • Clean driving record and eligibility for government clearance work.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in an active manufacturing facility and on customer sites. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Use of standard office equipment is necessary, and the employee may need to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
