$80,000–$100,000 Base Salary + Bonus Opportunities | Full-Time | Leadership Role

You know what a great HVAC installation looks like. Now lead the team responsible for delivering it.

Five Star Home Services is looking for an experienced HVAC Install Manager to lead the daily operations of our residential HVAC installation department.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands HVAC installation from the field up. You'll oversee crews, review jobs before they hit the board, make sure equipment and materials are ready, solve problems in real time, develop your team, and hold the department accountable for quality, efficiency, safety, and the customer experience.

If you know how to lead HVAC installers—and you're not afraid to get into the details when something isn't right—we want to talk to you.

WHAT YOU GET

  • $80,000–$100,000 base salary + bonus opportunities
  • Weekly pay
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance upon hire
  • Company HSA contributions with HDHP enrollment
  • 401(k) with up to 4% company match after 90 days
  • Paid Time Off + 6 Paid Holidays
  • Choose Your Five Star Benefit: Select a Five Star Home Services Home Maintenance Plan for your home (or a direct relative's home if you're not a homeowner) OR receive $150 in Five Star Company Store credits each quarter
  • Company-Paid Benefits: Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, $25,000 Life Insurance, Maternity & Paternity Pay, and Employee Assistance Program
  • Additional Voluntary Benefits: Accident, Critical Illness, Voluntary Life, Norton LifeLock & Spot Pet Insurance

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll own the day-to-day performance of the HVAC Install Department and make sure our crews are set up to succeed before they ever leave for the job.

You'll:

  • Review upcoming installations, job specifications, and documentation before scheduling
  • Assign crews based on job requirements and technician skill level
  • Monitor the install board and adjust assignments as operational needs change
  • Verify required equipment and materials are available before dispatch
  • Lead morning operations and make sure crews are prepared and dispatched on time
  • Check in with installation teams throughout the day to monitor readiness, job progress, and completion
  • Troubleshoot field issues and remove obstacles that could delay job completion
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate quality, safety, workmanship, and team performance
  • Review completed installations, documentation, checklists, and required photos
  • Manage inventory, special-order materials, payroll, and overtime for the department
  • Work closely with Sales and Logistics to keep communication and scheduling aligned
  • Lead and support hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of HVAC Install team members
  • Hold the team accountable for company procedures, safety requirements, workmanship, and Five Star standards

The position's scorecard specifically measures performance around complete pre-job reviews, material accuracy, appropriate crew assignments, on-time starts, post-job quality, documentation, and reducing callbacks.

THIS IS A FIELD-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP ROLE

We're not looking for someone who manages the install department entirely from behind a desk.

You need to understand how HVAC systems are actually installed, recognize quality workmanship, identify problems in the field, coach installers through technical and performance issues, and make sound decisions when a job doesn't go according to plan.

You'll be expected to know what's happening with your crews, what's happening on your jobs, and what needs to happen next.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

  • 5–10 years of professional HVAC installation experience
  • Previous leadership experience within HVAC installation or field operations
  • EPA 608 Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of residential HVAC installation practices
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to read and understand job specifications and blueprints
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold field teams accountable
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage scheduling, crews, materials, and competing operational priorities
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Commitment to safety, installation quality, and customer service

Preferred:

  • Technical HVAC training
  • NATE or additional HVAC certifications
  • ServiceTitan experience
  • Experience managing multiple residential HVAC installation crews
  • Experience with inventory, payroll, overtime, and field-performance management

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

A successful HVAC Install Manager doesn't spend the day reacting to problems that could have been prevented.

You make sure:

The job has been reviewed. The right crew is assigned. Equipment is correct. Materials are ready. Crews leave on time. The installation meets our standards. Documentation is complete. Problems get solved.

The scorecard establishes targets that include 95%+ job completion without callbacks, 98%+ on-time starts, 98%+ post-job checklist performance, complete paperwork, and strong technician compliance.

Just as importantly, you'll be expected to develop people. Great field leadership means setting expectations, coaching when someone needs help, addressing performance when standards aren't being met, and building installers who can take on greater responsibility.

THE LEADER WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You don't need someone to tell you that a missing piece of equipment is going to derail tomorrow's installation—you catch it today.

You understand that putting the wrong crew on the wrong job creates problems for everyone.

You know that callbacks aren't just a metric. They cost time, money, customer confidence, and team capacity.

And when something goes wrong, your first instinct is to solve the problem, determine why it happened, and prevent it from happening again.

That's the level of ownership we're looking for.

If you're an experienced HVAC installation professional who's ready to lead crews, improve performance, develop people, and take ownership of an installation department, we want to hear from you.
