Insulation Crew Chief

Forge is hiring a full-time Insulation Crew Chief to lead residential weatherization and insulation projects throughout Eastern Massachusetts. This is a working leadership role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, crew leadership, safety, and customer experience.


The Crew Chief will lead a team performing insulation, air sealing, ventilation, and energy-efficiency upgrades for residential homes participating in programs such as Mass Save.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a crew of 2-4 insulation installers
  • Work alongside the crew and set the standard for safety, productivity, and workmanship
  • Install blown-in cellulose, fiberglass batt, foam board, per Mass Save guidelines
  • Perform air sealing in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and other building envelope areas per Mass Save guidelines
  • Conduct blower door testing and ventilation work as needed
  • Install ventilation systems including static roof, soffit, ridge, and gable vents
  • Weather-strip doors to improve energy efficiency
  • Wrap ductwork and water lines as needed
  • Read and execute work orders and scopes of work efficiently
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, inspectors, and internal teams
  • Troubleshoot jobsite challenges and ensure projects are completed properly and on schedule
  • Train and mentor crew members
  • Complete job documentation, photos, and paperwork accurately
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness
  • Operate hand and power tools safely
  • Coordinate with project coordinator and office team 




Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of insulation or weatherization experience
  • Prior Crew Chief or Foreman experience required
  • Proven experience leading crews of 2-4 installers
  • Experience performing air sealing, ventilation work, blower door testing, and insulation installation
  • Experience with Mass Save or home performance programs strongly preferred
  • Laborer, construction, or carpentry experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of building science and residential energy-efficiency practices
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, basements, confined spaces, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to work at heights when needed
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Must pass background check and drug screening that does not screen for marijuana 



Required Certifications

  • Current Crew Chief Certification
  • Current Lead Safe Renovator (RRP) Certification
  • OSHA 10 
  • OSHA 30 (optional)



Preferred Qualifications

  • BPI Certification
  • Experience managing larger installation teams
  • Experience training junior installers and helpers
  • Residential retrofit or weatherization program experience
