Single-Path Same Day Surgery Coding Specialist

Remote (United States) | Temporary – Approximately 90 Days | Full-Time Preferred (Part-Time Considered)

Position Overview

GeBBS Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Single Path Same Day Surgery Coder with a strong background in orthopedic surgery coding for a remote, temporary assignment.

This position is anticipated to last approximately 90 days, with the potential for extension or longer-term opportunities based on client needs, workload, and individual performance and quality.

Preference will be given to candidates available to work full-time (40 hours per week); however, part-time applicants with a minimum availability of 20 hours per week may also be considered.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience coding both professional and facility services from a single medical record, with strong knowledge of orthopedic surgical procedures, coding guidelines, and reimbursement methodologies.

Position Responsibilities

• Review outpatient same day surgery medical records and supporting documentation.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, modifiers, and applicable facility coding elements for both professional and facility billing.
• Code a wide variety of orthopedic surgical procedures, including arthroscopy, joint procedures, spine, hand, foot and ankle, fracture repairs, and other musculoskeletal surgeries.
• Ensure accurate modifier assignment and compliance with National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and payer guidelines.
• Review and reconcile charges to support complete and compliant charge capture.
• Identify documentation opportunities and communicate coding clarification needs when appropriate.
• Maintain established productivity and quality standards.
• Stay current with coding updates, payer policies, and regulatory changes impacting outpatient surgery services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Same Day Surgery coding experience.
• Extensive experience coding Orthopedic Surgery procedures.
• Experience coding both professional and facility services in a single-pathway workflow.
• Strong knowledge of:

  • OPPS/APC reimbursement methodologies

Required Systems Experience

• Epic
• 3M Encoder

Required Certifications

One or more of the following active AHIMA/AAPC certifications is required:

• CCS
• CPC
• COC
• RHIA
• RHIT
