About Harell Data

AI has transformed digital industries, but progress in the physical sciences — drug discovery, materials science, climate modeling — has stalled. The bottleneck isn't compute or algorithms. It's data. The most valuable scientific datasets are locked in silos, unstructured, and inaccessible.

We're fixing that. Harell Data is a managed platform where organizations can securely share proprietary datasets, train models on high-performance GPUs, and deploy them for inference and application development. Dataset owners share their data for model training without giving up control of it. Researchers and engineers get access to compute to train, deploy, and use their models. It's the infrastructure layer that turns scattered scientific data into domain-specific foundation models.

About the Role

You'll be the founding Product Designer at Harell Data, reporting directly to the CTO. You'll own the design of our entire product - partnering closely with customers and engineering to turn complex infrastructure into something that feels obvious to use. You'll have real ownership and the chance to build the design playbook from scratch - then scale with the company as it grows.

What You Will Do

  • Own the product experience end to end — Information architecture, interaction design, visual craft. You're the one taking it from rough idea to shipped product.
  • Bring clarity to hard problems — Our users are dealing with real technical complexity. Your job is to make them feel in control, not overwhelmed.
  • Systematize as we scale — Turn one-off designs into reusable patterns and a design system that lets the team ship faster as we grow.
  • Talk to customers directly — Run sessions, sit in on calls, bring insights back as product direction.
  • Set the design bar — Define what good looks like at Harell, and help hire the design team that comes after you.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product design experience, including time at an early-stage startup or as a 0-to-1 hire on a new product.
  • Strong portfolio of complex, data-rich B2B or developer-facing products - admin tooling, dashboards, workflow UIs, dev tools, or similar.
  • Solid across interaction design, visual design, and design systems.
  • Able to go deep with engineers on technical concepts, and direct experience running customer conversations.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - you've built in places where the playbook didn't exist yet.
