Role Overview

  • Harrington Family Health Center – Harrington, Maine
    Full-Time | $17.00–$20.00 per hour

Harrington Family Health Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Administrative Assistant to join our team. This position is a great fit for someone who is organized, comfortable working with people, and interested in helping patients access behavioral health and psychiatric services.

This is primarily an administrative and patient-coordination position with some limited clinical responsibilities. The Behavioral Health Administrative Assistant works closely with patients, behavioral health and medical staff, outside providers, and our remote Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule behavioral health and psychiatric appointments and coordinate patient follow-up.
  • Assist patients with referrals, testing, records, and other needs related to accessing behavioral health services.
  • Support telehealth appointments with our remote PMHNP, including helping patients connect and troubleshooting computer, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing and other monitoring ordered for psychiatric medications.
  • Track testing and follow up to make sure results are received and available to the appropriate provider.
  • Perform EKGs and obtain patient vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate information in the electronic health record.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and outside organizations.
  • Occasionally provide home visits to help coordinate behavioral health services and access to care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, customer service, or an administrative setting preferred, but not required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and software, with the ability to learn and confidently use electronic health records, telehealth platforms, and other workplace applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and follow through on details.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with patients, providers, coworkers, and outside organizations.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn the clinical skills required for the position. On-the-job training will be provided.

Job Type

  • Full Time, flexible schedule

Compensation

  • Starting pay: $17.00–$20.00 per hour, based on relevant experience and qualifications.
