Hyperlayer Careers

Product Owner

About Hyperlayer

Hyperlayer is the intelligent banking platform built for the agentic economy: the financial control layer that sits above banks' existing cores, enabling next-generation Smart Accounts, without ripping anything out. From a single integration, we give financial institutions a secure rules and orchestration engine that lets them design, launch and scale hyper-personalised products in weeks while preserving stability, compliance and control. And there's nothing like us anywhere in the world.

Hyperlayer works with Tier 1 and Tier 2 FIs across the UK, US, EMEA and Hong Kong, with an award-winning UK consumer app (HyperJar) sitting in the group. We're creating the fintech category that every bank in the world needs: programmable, governed, agent-ready accounts. Your job is to make sure our audiences know that.

About the role

  • We're hiring a Product Owner to take ownership of a specific feature surface within one of three product areas: Wealth & Asset Management, Core Banking, or Payments. This isn't a traditional, ceremony-driven Product Owner role — you'll work alongside the Product Manager (Product Builder) for your domain, taking features from defined intent through to live in production, and owning their quality and behaviour on an ongoing basis. You'll work directly with AI-assisted engineering day to day, defining evaluation criteria for AI-generated outputs and monitoring what's live rather than running sprint ceremonies.
  • This is an office-based role, with regular in-person collaboration in the office.

What you'll do

  • Own a specific feature surface within your domain — Wealth & Asset Management, Core Banking, or Payments — from defined intent through to live in production.
  • Define clear, testable evaluation criteria for AI-generated outputs, covering precision, edge case coverage and failure modes.
  • Work directly alongside AI-assisted engineering, reviewing outputs, defining constraints, and catching what AI misses.
  • Monitor feature behaviour in production using data, AI agents and evaluation pipelines, and own the quality of what is live.
  • Ship continuously, iterating in days and intervening quickly when something drifts, rather than working to sprint cycles.
  • Build and refine the prompts and evaluation criteria that govern automated work in your feature area.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager (Product Builder) for your domain, who sets direction, while you own execution and quality.

Qualifications

  • A track record of shipping features in complex, regulated, mission-critical environments — not just managing tickets. The ability to define clear, testable outcomes for AI-generated work — you know what good looks like before a line of code is written.
  • Strong technical depth — you can read code output, interrogate a data model, review an API contract, and catch edge cases that AI misses.
  • Precision under pressure — you understand that in financial services, data errors and compliance gaps have real consequences.
  • A fast iteration mindset, comfortable shipping, monitoring, learning and adjusting in days rather than planning in quarters.
  • Deep domain expertise in at least one of the areas below, at a feature implementation level (please let us know which when you apply):

◦        Wealth & Asset Management — hands-on knowledge from inside a platform, private bank, or fintech serving this space, including how a portfolio accounting calculation works and what a suitability report must contain under MiFID II, COBS and PRIIPs.

◦        Core Banking — hands-on knowledge from inside a bank, a cloud-native core banking platform, or a fintech built on top of one, including how a general ledger posting works and PRA/FCA/Basel III requirements at the feature level.

◦        Payments — hands-on knowledge from inside a bank, payment processor, scheme operator, or fintech payments platform, including how a Faster Payment message flows end-to-end and PSD2/3 and OFAC/HMT screening obligations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience spanning more than one of the domains above.
  • Experience monitoring AI feature behaviour in production, catching drift or regression before it affects customers.
  • Developer empathy — an understanding of what makes an API or integration good to work with, such as error handling and clear documentation.

Using AI at Hyperlayer

Hyperlayer is hyper-focused on making the most of AI across every workstream, and this role sits right at that intersection. Day to day, you'll define evaluation criteria for AI-generated outputs, review AI-written code and features before they ship, and use AI agents and eval pipelines to monitor what's live in production.

You'll work directly in AI-assisted tooling alongside engineering, catching what AI misses and improving the prompts and guardrails that govern automated work in your feature area.
