Assistant Accountant

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys transactional accounting but is also keen to gain broader exposure to month-end accounting and financial reporting.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Independently manage the company's Accounts Payable, ensuring data accuracy and timely processing of transactions.
  • Responsible for banking operations, bank reconciliations, transaction postings, and payments processing.
  • Process corporate credit card claims and ensure expenditure aligns with internal policies
  • Prepare and lodge BAS and payroll tax returns; maintain FBT records and populate the annual FBT workbook; support financial audits.
  • Assist with the month-end procedure, including payroll journals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all financial tasks.
  • Maintain accurate workpapers and supporting financial documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
  • Ad-hoc accounting and administration duties as required.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an accounts related area or similar finance role; ability to independently manage the full AP function essential 
  • Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite and Lightyear experience highly regarded) 
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills, including experience with financial workbooks 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and meet compliance deadlines 
  • Degree or qualification in Accounting or Finance (required)
