Senior Project Manager (Banking & Software Delivery)

About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized, analytical Project Manager with banking experience to support and drive key initiatives across the organization.
The ideal candidate combines strong banking and project management experience with excellent data and technology skills. They are comfortable working in Jira, Excel, and PowerPoint, can navigate large volumes of data, and are confident using AI tools to improve analysis, reporting, and productivity. Python experience is a strong asset, as is experience working with software development and technology delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects from planning through execution, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
• Manage project activities and workflows in Jira and coordinate across teams and stakeholders.
• Support software and technology delivery initiatives, working closely with engineering, product, QA, infrastructure, and other technical teams.
• Coordinate requirements, development, testing, UAT, releases, and implementation activities across the software delivery lifecycle.
• Analyze large volumes of data using Excel and other tools to identify trends, issues, and insights.
• Prepare clear, executive-ready PowerPoint presentations, reports, and project updates.
• Use AI tools to accelerate research, analysis, reporting, documentation, and process improvement.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work and improve operational efficiency.
• Work closely with business, technology, and other stakeholders to keep initiatives on track.
• Translate complex technical and business information into clear recommendations and actionable next steps.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in project management, program management, operations, or a related role within banking / financial services.
• Strong understanding of banking environments, processes, and stakeholders.
• Proven experience managing projects and multiple priorities, including technology or software delivery projects.
• Strong Jira, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• Experience working with Agile / Scrum teams and familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Highly analytical with the ability to work through large datasets and complex information.
• Strong AI literacy and practical experience using AI tools.
• Python experience is an asset, particularly for data analysis and automation.
• Experience working with technical teams, software development, systems integration, APIs, databases, or cloud technologies is an asset.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to banking stakeholders, aligning business objectives with technology delivery.
• Lead analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design for strategic initiatives.
• Provide oversight of software delivery projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities and compliance standards.
• Facilitate release planning and readiness reviews in collaboration with product, development, QA, and operations teams.
• Develop project governance frameworks, including reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Conduct impact assessments for new initiatives, identifying dependencies and regulatory implications.
• Support post-release evaluations, ensuring lessons learned are captured and continuous improvement is applied.
  
  

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience as a Business Consultant, Business Analyst, or Project Manager within the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong knowledge of banking operations, compliance requirements, and technology-driven change programs.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and product lifecycle.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps).
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications such as PMP, Agile, Scrum, or CBAP.
• Experience with regulatory, compliance, or risk-related initiatives in banking.
• Technical background or familiarity with software architecture and integration concepts.
