Early Childhood Center Leadership (Chicago Area)

As an Early Childhood Center Leader, you will provide leadership and operational support within our growing network of schools, helping to ensure high-quality educational experiences, strong team performance, and exceptional family engagement. Responsibilities may include overseeing daily operations, supporting staff development and onboarding, maintaining licensing and regulatory compliance, driving enrollment and retention efforts, and leading special projects that support organizational growth.


This position will be based on-site at one of our schools, with the specific location to be determined as we continue to expand. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced early childhood leader who enjoys building strong teams, fostering a positive school culture, and making a meaningful impact within a growing organization. This role offers the opportunity to learn about Kido, build relationships across our network, and grow into a long-term leadership position within one of our schools.

Your Role

As a Floating Center Administrator, you will help ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and high-quality educational experiences across the schools you support. You will partner with Center Directors and leadership teams to maintain consistency, support staff development, and strengthen family relationships while ensuring each school operates in alignment with Kido's values and standards.

What You'll Do

Leadership Support

  • Provide leadership coverage for Center Directors and Assistant Directors as needed.
  • Support day-to-day school operations to ensure continuity of care and service.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members across multiple campuses.

Team Development

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Coach, mentor, and support educators and emerging leaders.
  • Reinforce best practices in classroom management, curriculum implementation, and operational procedures.

Licensing & Compliance

  • Support schools in maintaining compliance with Illinois DCFS Child Care Licensing Standards (Part 407).
  • Assist with licensing visits, monitoring, documentation, and corrective action plans as needed.
  • Ensure health, safety, and risk management procedures are consistently followed.

Family Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with families.
  • Support enrollment tours, family communication, and retention initiatives.
  • Help ensure families receive exceptional service and support.

Operational Excellence

  • Assist with staffing plans, scheduling, recordkeeping, and administrative processes.
  • Support enrollment growth, community outreach, and marketing initiatives.
  • Partner with school leaders to maintain organized, efficient, and welcoming school environments.

Special Projects & Regional Support

  • Assist with leadership training, program launches, quality improvement initiatives, and other regional priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with school leaders and regional leadership to support strategic goals.

Is This the Role for You?

We would love to speak with you if:

  • You meet Illinois DCFS Part 407 Director qualifications.
    • You possess a combination of early childhood education coursework, business or administration coursework, and leadership experience required to serve as a Director in a licensed Illinois child care center.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience as a Center Director in a licensed early childhood program.
  • You have experience supporting staff development, coaching, and team leadership.
  • You have strong knowledge of Illinois child care licensing regulations and compliance requirements.
  • You are highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working at multiple school locations.
  • You possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • You have experience with enrollment management, family engagement, and school operations (preferred).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred.
