Kin Health

Lead Designer

About Kin

Healthcare is still a black box for most Americans. Kin turns any medical visit into momentum and becomes the default patient AI layer that works in any exam room today: patient-controlled, privacy-forward, and designed to make care feel less confusing and more doable in the moments that count.

We are a physician-led team of repeat entrepreneurs with multiple successful exits, supported by world-class capital and strategic partners (including the former co-CEOs of GoodRx). We’re hiring a Lead Product Designer to help us build a product that patients trust in the moments that matter and define the next generational consumer healthcare business.

Why this role matters

You'll be a lead designer at Kin, shaping how patients and caregivers experience healthcare's most critical moments. This isn't a role where you execute someone else's vision; you'll help us define the visual language, interaction patterns, and storytelling that make complex medical information feel clear and actionable.

You will own design outcomes that directly change the patient and care circle experience, measured in clarity, trust, and real-world behavior change. You will work closely with engineering and product, and report directly to our co-founder and CPO, Amit Parikh.

What you will be building at Kin

  • Bridge the gap between design and code. You won't just design in a silo. You’ll use your technical fluency to collaborate deeply with our developers, understanding architecture well enough to know when to push technical boundaries and when to lean on existing systems.
  • Translate complex healthcare workflows into intuitive, high-fidelity designs. And do it fast. We move quickly and need someone who can go from insight to a polished, technically sound prototype in days, not weeks.
  • Own the end-to-end patient and caregiver experience, from visit recording to follow-through. You'll design for moments that are often stressful, confusing, and high-stakes, bringing a high-taste, calming aesthetic to complex problems.
  • Write and shape product copy. Our product speaks to patients in plain language; you'll craft the words as much as the pixels.
  • Run lightweight research and usability tests. Talk to patients, watch them use the product, and turn insights into shipped improvements.
  • Build, evolve, and codify our design system. You'll ensure our brand expression and component libraries are not only visually stunning but practically implementable and scalable in the codebase.
  • Experiment relentlessly. You'll propose hypotheses, ship variants, and use data to learn what actually changes behavior.

What we're looking for

We're building for people navigating the scariest moments of their lives. That shapes everything about who we hire, how we build, and what we ship.

  • Deep technical fluency. You speak the language of engineering (whether that’s front-end code, React, mobile frameworks, or simply system architecture) and understand the medium you are designing for. You know how to interface with developers to ensure the shipped product matches your designs pixel-for-pixel.
  • Elite taste and an eye for craft. You sweat the micro-interactions, typography, and visual polish. You are driven to elevate the product far beyond standard to create functional beauty.
  • Strong writing and storytelling instincts. You think in narratives, can articulate why a flow works, and write the copy that makes it land.
  • High agency. You identify what matters, make a call, and move. You're comfortable with ambiguity and energized by ownership.
  • Experiment-driven mindset. You believe design is a hypothesis. You want to ship, measure, and learn.
  • Rapid high-fidelity execution. You can turn complex business requirements into polished, buildable designs quickly without sacrificing clarity or craft.
  • Consumer product background (preferred). You've designed products people use in their daily lives.
  • Passion for the problem. Healthcare experience isn't required, but deep curiosity about how design can make care less confusing for our core audiences is.

How we work

1. Patient-First Obsession

The North Star. When in doubt, ask whose interests this serves. We build for the person at the end of the care chain, not for the roadmap, not for the demo, not for the investor. When patient outcomes and internal convenience conflict, patient outcomes win. Every time.

2. No Silos, No Heroes

Empowerment over Dependency. We operate with radical transparency and assume positive intent, empowering each other to take ownership and challenge ideas rather than people.

3. Magic in Simplicity

Earn Complexity. Simple until it has to be otherwise. We ship to learn, cut scope to move, and resist the urge to architect for problems we don't have yet. Complexity is a cost. We only pay it when the return is clear.

4. Sustainable Intensity

Energy over Hours.

Energy is the asset, not hours. We bring full force when it matters and protect recovery because burnout doesn't serve patients. Intensity is a tool we choose.
