About the role

Our Security Team is at the heart of keeping London Southend Airport safe, secure and welcoming. As Security Team Leader you will lead a team of Ground Security Officers throughout their shift, driving operational excellence, supporting day-to-day security activities and ensuring that every passenger enjoys a smooth, safe and efficient journey from the moment they arrive.

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Team Leader, no two days are ever the same. You'll play a key role developing our Ground Security Officers and keeping our airport and passengers safe. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, coaching and developing a team of Ground Security Officers
• Supporting recruitment, colleague development and performance management activities
• Allocating of resources to ensure operational and security requirements are met
• Compliance monitoring
• Responding to operational incidents, alarms and security-related issues
• Support in the delivery of a safe, warm, professional and efficient service to passengers.
• Screening passengers and baggage in accordance with CAA regulations.
• Conducting CCTV monitoring and security patrols across the airport.
• Completing administrative duties and maintaining relevant documentation.
• Deputise for the Security Duty Manager or Control Centre Supervisors when required
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to keep the airport operating safely and smoothly.

Skills and experience:

Our fantastic Security Training team equip you with the training required to excel in this role, however, there are some requirements successful candidates will need to meet:

Essential:

• As you will be operating the X-Ray Machines, you will be required to pass a colour-blind test
• Flexibility to work a varied shift pattern across the operating hours of the airport (03:00-00:00)
• Strong communication skills
• Experience working within Aviation Security
• Ground Security Officer Level 1

Desirable:

• Ground Security Supervisor Level 2

Onboarding & Vetting, Key Information:

Due to the nature of working in a secure airport environment, all successful applicants of London Southend Airport will be required to obtain and maintain and airside pass. Our People Team will support in the application process; however, all successful applicants will need to be able to provide:

• A Clear Standard DBS Check
• a full 5-year history of employment, self-employment, education and any gaps in activity.
• Any supporting documents requested as part of the vetting process
• Successful applicants to our Security team, will also be required to undertake a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC)
