Longeye

Software Engineer

About our company

The truth is in the evidence. With Longeye you can actually find it.

In a short period of time we’ve built a product that our customers love. Now we’re accelerating. (this is where you come in)

A quick summary of why we think you’ll like working at Longeye: What you’re building will positively impact people’s lives. You'll be given considerable agency and ownership. We help each other succeed. We’ll show you how to move at a pace you didn’t think was possible.

About our team

We enjoy each other’s company while doing meaningful work. We don't believe the future of app development has space for deeply siloed specialties in engineering. Every great engineer brings a specialty and a special flavor—yours matters, and we'll lean on it—but we think that the best teams from here on out will be smaller. Our team culture includes constantly reflecting on we can automate more things. Each member of our team contributes across the stack (infra to UX & DX).

Our dev team is a tight-knit group of experienced folks who are excited about the AI renaissance. Everyone on our team works with high agency, high customer empathy, a strong work ethic, and a true delight for the craft. You’ll fit right in if you bring the same energy 🙂

What you'll do

  • Own a critical problem area end to end. This includes architecture, implementation, deployment, and the customer conversations that shape it.
  • Architect for big agent systems, big data scale, and courtroom-grade verifiability. In the end accuracy wins out over speed.
  • Invest in DX for real. We run a large, complex system with a tiny team, and have had to solve DevOps problems usually reserved for teams 100x our size to make sure deploys, operational excellence, COGS, etc. all stay manageable.
  • Support what we build. We all share the on-call rotation and the support load as a team.

What you'll bring

  • Systems experience at scale. You’ve pondered choosing the right architectures, spotting the missing abstractions, and built generic systems from the bottom-up that can grow over time.
  • A track record of shipping real systems end-to-end, ideally either somewhere small enough where impact was easy to measure, or over a long enough period of time that you could see your bets play out.
  • Agentic coding as a preference. It’s already part of your daily practice and you’ve developed a genuine enthusiasm for it. We’d love to have you regale us with your trials and tribulations directing Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex through non-trivial, multi-file work.
  • Real range. You'd rather own a hard problem across four unfamiliar domains than optimize the one you've already mastered. Strength in security, distributed systems, or frontend/design is a bonus, not a box.
  • A desire to build things with patience and safety, and a reason to care that the answers are true. In this era of moving fast, we know how much responsibility we bear as the builders of this particular technology. We are taking special time to make sure we have the right controls and data governance in place, not just to deliver defense-in-depth to our user agencies, but to do our best to protect from misuse in our system in the long run.

Our stack

  • Security & compliance are our top priority, not an afterthought
  • Frontend: modern React stack
  • Backend: Python, GraphQL, K8s, Prefect, Postgres, ParadeDB and a few others, all running on AWS
  • You can have as many agent accounts as you’d like. 🤖

Whether this sounds exactly like your ideal role, or if you still have questions, we’re happy to talk.

This is a San Francisco-based role. Salary is between 170K → 220K.

You’re joining us early. Equity will be meaningful.
