JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Director, Business Intelligence is responsible for developing the company's data strategy, reporting infrastructure, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives. This role transforms data from Encompass and other company systems into meaningful insights that support executive decision-making, operational efficiency, revenue growth, and organizational performance.

Director, Business Intelligence serves as the primary resource for data governance, reporting accuracy, dashboard development, KPI management, and business analytics across all departments and business units. This position partners with executive leadership, sales, operations, finance, supply chain, and human resources to identify trends, measure performance, and provide actionable recommendations that drive business results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Management & Reporting

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize reporting solutions using data from Encompass and other company systems
  • Design and manage executive dashboards, scorecards, and KPI reporting tools
  • Create recurring and ad hoc reports for leadership, departments, and business units
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all reporting platforms
  • Establish and maintain reporting standards and documentation

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Analyze sales, distribution, inventory, operational, financial, and workforce data to identify trends and opportunities
  • Provide actionable insights that improve profitability, efficiency, customer service, and business performance
  • Conduct forecasting, trend analysis, and predictive modeling to support strategic planning
  • Identify key business drivers and develop metrics to measure organizational success
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership in a clear and concise manner

Systems Integration & Data Governance

  • Oversee the collection, integration, and validation of data from Encompass (ERP & CRM), HRIS, financial, and other business systems
  • Establish data governance policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Collaborate with IT and system administrators to improve data accessibility and reliability
  • Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements to improve reporting capabilities

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Lead business intelligence projects and initiatives from concept through implementation
  • Partner with department leaders to understand reporting needs and develop solutions
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management processes
  • Develop long-term business intelligence strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Manage external vendors, consultants, and analytics partners as needed

Performance Measurement

  • Define, monitor, and report key performance indicators across all business functions
  • Create automated reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Measure and communicate business performance against established goals and benchmarks
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time may include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, or data management
  • Alcoholic Beverage Supplier experience a bonus
  • Advanced experience working with ERP systems, preferably Encompass
  • Strong proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business decisions through data-driven insights
  • Able to analyze and understand data/information while communicating effectively and clearly to a tailored audience in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Commercial financial understanding and acumen
