Nurse Practitioner (APP)

Location: Kentucky
Setting: Correctional
Employment Type: Part-Time / PRN (2-4 hours per week)

Position Overview

MindCare Solutions is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner (APP) to provide comprehensive medical and behavioral health services within a Kentucky correctional facility. The APP will provide evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients while working collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, and the multidisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical and psychiatric evaluations as appropriate.
  • Diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide ongoing management of acute and chronic medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Prescribe and manage medications within the scope of licensure and facility protocols.
  • Respond to urgent and emergent patient needs.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, behavioral health providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and preventative care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and care coordination.
  • Follow all applicable correctional facility policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide care in a professional, trauma-informed, and patient-centered manner within the correctional environment.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Kentucky Nurse Practitioner/APRN license.
  • National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the applicable specialty.
  • Active DEA registration, if required for the position.
  • Experience in correctional, behavioral health, primary care, emergency, or other high-acuity settings preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Must successfully complete required background screening, credentialing, and facility clearance requirements.
