Job Summary

• Seeking a highly capable Network Systems Engineer to support mission-critical operations within a secure customer environment
• This role operates at the intersection of enterprise networking, cloud infrastructure, and real-time operations, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of systems supporting national intelligence missions
• This is an operations-focused engineering position requiring strong technical expertise in monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting, and sustaining complex distributed systems
• The ideal candidate performs effectively in high-tempo environments and understands the importance of precision, rapid response, and mission continuity

Primary Responsibilities

• Monitor and sustain high-availability network and cloud infrastructure supporting mission systems
• Analyze network traffic, system logs, telemetry, and performance data to identify anomalies, degradation, and potential mission impact
• Provide real-time situational awareness and concise operational reporting to mission stakeholders
• Perform incident triage, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and coordinated response activities across network, system, and cloud layers
• Escalate technical issues with clear context, impact assessments, and actionable recommendations
• Develop and execute remediation strategies to restore services and reduce the likelihood of recurring issues
• Support secure data flows and cross-domain capabilities in accordance with applicable Intelligence Community security requirements
• Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, cloud architects, and operations personnel to improve resiliency, performance, and scalability
• Develop, maintain, and improve runbooks, standard operating procedures, and operational documentation
• Support automation efforts that improve monitoring, troubleshooting, response time, and operational efficiency
• Analyze packet-level data, logs, and system metrics to support troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Maintain awareness of evolving network architectures, cloud capabilities, security controls, and threat conditions within the customer environment
• Support incident response and operational reporting activities in classified environments

Required Qualifications

• Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
• Ten (10) years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or in a related technical role supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• Five (5) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including:
  • TCP/IP
  • BGP
  • OSPF
  • Switching
  • DNS
  • Network segmentation
• Experience supporting real-time operational environments such as Network Operations Centers, Security Operations Centers, or mission operations centers
• Experience with monitoring and analytics platforms such as Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, SolarWinds, or comparable tools
• Experience analyzing packet-level data, system logs, telemetry, and performance metrics
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix operating environments
• Experience with operational scripting using Bash, Python, or similar languages
• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts including:
  • Virtual Private Clouds
  • Subnets
  • Routing
  • Load balancing
  • Security groups
• Experience with incident response workflows and operational reporting in classified environments
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and concisely in time-sensitive mission situations

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting the Maryland customer or similar Intelligence Community missions
• Knowledge of cross-domain solutions, data tagging, and secure data-transfer mechanisms
• Experience with DevSecOps practices, automation, or Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architectures and advanced network security controls
• Experience supporting AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other cloud environments used for classified workloads
• Relevant certifications such as:
  • CCNP
  • CCIE
  • Security+
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Comparable networking, cloud, or cybersecurity certifications
