Service Superintendent - Seattle, WA

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Service Superintendent oversees cooling tower service, preventative maintenance, and repairs, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to OBR quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration with clients and associates, and close coordination with engineering, project management, purchasing, and Service Management to exceed customer expectations.


Extensive travel is required depending on project location.


ROLES/TASKS OF THE POSITION

  • Ensure safe work practices; stop work if unsafe conditions arise.
  • Interface with clients and oversee all aspects of service projects.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train field technicians, Foremen, Leadmen, and crews.
  • Conduct safety orientations and enforce OBR/industry standards.
  • Manage service materials, equipment rentals, and job supplies.
  • Oversee service processes, subcontractor progress, and project schedules.
  • Prepare service and time reports; complete job closeout documentation to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Monitor budgets, profitability, and adherence to scope and specifications.
  • Lead pre‑service meetings and coordinate with supervisory, engineering, and supplier personnel to resolve issues.
  • Contribute to bid strategies, project planning, and problem‑solving.
  • Plan and manage projects ranging from inspections to large, complex jobs.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·         High school diploma, or equivalent

·         At least 1 – 2 years of experience in the field, performing cooling tower services.

·         Knowledge of Windows based applications.

·         Knowledge and application of safety standards through OSHA training and experience.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this role, with reasonable accommodation provided as needed. Requirements include:

 

  • Outdoor or plant settings with exposure to weather, heat, noise, and nearby hazardous chemicals
  • Lift up to 50 lbs., bend, climb, and stoop as needed.
  • Stand, walk, sit, crawl, squat, kneel, and reach (outward/above shoulders).
  • Perform keyboarding/typing and reading from screens or paper.
  • Manage high workloads and multi-task in a fast-paced setting.
  • Communicate effectively verbally.

 

PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Negative 10 panel urinalysis and breath alcohol test.
  • Valid Driver's License and proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Satisfactory background check.
  • Ability to maintain active status in DISA with a score of 2 or less.
  • Valid TWIC card.
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Rigging, forklift, and man-lift certification.
