About the role:

Reporting to the Logistics and Inventory Manager, the Item Master / Component Technician will support the operations and engineering teams by ensuring that all consumables, materials and services are identified and coded consistently and in accordance with engineering’s technical definition. This role is essential to maintaining accurate and up-to-date part records, which are critical for effective purchasing, inventory management and production processes.


What you'll do:

  • Maintain the master file, establish product configurations and ensure data integrity and accuracy in the ERP system;
  • Create new product items: spare parts, consumables, materials, equipment and services in the ERP system;
  • Establish product bills of materials (BOMs) and update product information in the ERP system, leading the process with cross-functional teams;
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to define and maintain accurate BOMs in the ERP system;
  • Work with IT teams and ERP system administrators to identify, test and implement system improvements, automations and process enhancements related to item configuration;
  • Assist with data migration or transfer to new systems as needed;
  • In collaboration with the hardware engineering department, the item master owner will manage the obsolescence or unavailability of electronic components across all electronic products;
  • Participate in parts list reviews;
  • Participate in the engineering change order (ECO) process;
  • Track PCNs (product change notices, alerts, counterfeit components, DMSMS) received from distributors and Silicon Expert;
  • Support the PLM team in preparing obsolescence reports for management and customers;
  • Collaborate with the supply chain and engineering teams to define and maintain the approved vendor list (AVL).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as information systems or operations;
  • Experience in component engineering (electrical, electronic, electromechanical) is an asset;
  • Solid experience with an ERP system;
  • Knowledge of Excel (intermediate to expert level);
  • Knowledge of product bills of materials (BOMs);
  • Knowledge of component control document types (specification control, source control, modified item, selected item) is an asset;
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (RoHS, REACH) is an asset;
  • Autonomy and adaptability;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Bilingual French and English, spoken and written, to ensure strong collaboration with our suppliers and international teams.
