Head of Responsible Wagering

Picklebet is a sports, racing and esports betting platform redefining the wagering experience for a modern audience. Currently a top 10 operator in Australia, we're expanding offshore with the launch of our new Casino vertical, built on proprietary technology.

About the role

The Head of Responsible Wagering leads Picklebet's Responsible Gambling (RG) function, ensuring the business meets all licensing and legal obligations while championing a genuine culture of player protection. You'll own the day-to-day running of the RG department, lead our 24/7 global team, and act as the key voice for responsible wagering across the entire business.

This is a fast-paced, multinational operation that protects players around the clock. It requires the leadership and flexibility to manage a team operating across multiple global time zones.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all licensing and legal obligations relating to responsible wagering.
  • Lead the operational day-to-day running of the RG department and manage a 24/7, multinational team.
  • Proactively stay up to date with all regulatory updates across relevant jurisdictions, ensuring new requirements are rapidly translated and integrated into day-to-day operational workflows
  • Oversee harm-minimisation monitoring, using behavioural analytics and player-protection tools to identify at-risk customers and guide timely, appropriate interventions.
  • Liaise with Responsible Wagering Australia and other relevant bodies to offer real-world insights and ensure robust, relevant decision-making.
  • Ensure all RG training and process documentation remains valid, current, and fit for purpose.
  • Act as the primary stakeholder and voice for RG in product-related projects and system enhancements.
  • Respond to and liaise with relevant regulators on specific RG cases, and prepare RG-related regulatory submissions and management reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Fraud & Payments, Customer Service, and Trading teams on shared RG signals and customer-protection outcomes.

What you'll bring:

  • Comfort and capability working in a 24/7 multinational environment; you understand that a global operation requires flexibility outside of standard business hours.
  • A tertiary qualification (Business, Compliance, or a related discipline preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in an operational regulatory or compliance role (gambling industry experience is highly preferred, but not essential).
  • Demonstrated experience working within complex regulatory frameworks and translating rules into live, functional business processes.
  • Proven experience writing and implementing end-to-end, best-practice process documentation.
  • High level of empathy and sound judgement when handling sensitive customer situations.
  • A genuine passion for responsible wagering and player protection.
