REPORTS INTO: Head of Production

LOCATION: Hybrid in Los Angeles or NYC, NY

What Is a Sr. Production Director

A Sr. Production Director is a seasoned, independent production leader who owns the full lifecycle of complex, high-profile projects and a defined client portfolio. You operate without needing to be managed. You see what's coming, you make the call, and you bring your team with you.

You sit between the hands-on execution world of a Production Director and the department-level leadership of a Group Production Director/Head of Production. That means you're the senior production authority on your projects, making high-stakes decisions independently, managing executive-level client relationships, and developing the Production Directors and producers in your orbit.

You are not running the department. You are running your portfolio at the highest possible level and doing it in a way that makes the people around you better. When things get complex, difficult, or high-pressure, your team and your clients look to you first. You are the steady hand that keeps things moving.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • You will work directly with our clients and client teams on a daily basis. Excellent client-facing communication and organizational skills is a must have.
  • Inspire and lead the production team to manage and execute creative, results-driven events and programs that meet client objectives and deliver against project scope.

  • Supervise cross-functional teams on projects, resolving conflicts, and optimizing team performance and collaboration.
  • Lead, mentor, and support Production Directors and producers across your projects.

  • Clearly define and maintain Roles & Responsibilities for the project team and partner agencies.
  • Oversees risk management on projects, creating risk mitigation strategies for complex challenges.
  • Manages large-scale and small-scale productions, quick turn and long lead, and prioritizes multiple projects at the various stages of a project life cycle.
  • As a member of the Leadership team, you will work closely with the other senior leaders across departments to ensure synergy, collaboration, and communication.
  • Set and stay close to project budgets — approving major expenses and adjusting financial plans as projects evolve

  • Contribute to the evolution of Salt's production processes and standards
  • As a full time employee, you will be responsible for managing full time (non project) staff at Salt.  This would include ongoing company management, employee development, employee growth, and company culture.

Salt Core Values + You

  • Redefine the Rules: Creative and production fighting like cats and dogs? Not here. We bring creative and production together from the start because a great idea is only as good as how it’s brought to life. For us, logistics and aesthetics go hand in hand. We’re all about delivering experiences that go beyond the ask.
  • In Search Of: Tackling challenges is our favorite pastime. Obstacles? We call them plot twists. We are creative thinkers and problem-solvers who always find a way forward with curiosity and determination. Our focus is exceeding expectations, turning client asks into an opportunity to deliver something unexpectedly brilliant.
  • Expect More, Get More: We hold ourselves to higher standards than anyone else, always looking for ways to elevate each project. We don’t stop at simply checking all the boxes; we push until time runs out. That extra 10% is where we surpass the competition, delivering results beyond what our clients could imagine—or even think to ask for.
  • Compassion is Culture: We are powered by extraordinary humans, and we’re dedicated to cultivating an environment where company success is tied to team success. We combat burnout with inspiration, motivation, and genuine support. Without fun, work sucks

You Are:

  • A portfolio owner who leads from the front. You don't manage from a distance. You are close to your projects, close to your clients, and close to your team because you know that's the only way to catch what's coming before it becomes a problem. You make high-stakes decisions confidently and independently, and you know when to bring the GPD in.
  • A developer of production talent. Production Directors on your projects get better because of how you lead. You create space for them to own more, challenge them to think bigger, and hold them accountable with honesty and care. Your satisfaction comes from watching them grow, not just from delivering the project.
  • A trusted executive-level client partner. Your clients see you as a strategic partner, not a project manager. You show up to high-pressure conversations with calm, clarity, and a path forward. You protect the relationship without compromising the work and you know the difference between managing expectations and lowering them.
  • Someone who runs toward complexity. Quick turns, global activations, simultaneous multi-market programs. You've done it all and you're energized by the challenge. You bring both the nitty-gritty knowledge and the strategic altitude to lead productions that would overwhelm a less experienced leader.
