About the Role:

The Lab Technician II will be responsible for the processing and testing of various human biospecimen products. Sample processing will include, but is not limited to: Serum, plasma, PBMC, T, B, & NK cell isolations. Other assigned duties may include accessioning, cell counting, reagent creation, proper sample storage, standard operating procedure editing, new hire training, kitting, inventory management and other projects as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately document and accession biospecimen collection information following company SOPs.
  • Perform various blood product processing and other related tasks such as cell cryopreservation, and cell separation using various methods of isolation to isolate different immune cell subsets such as PBMCs, T, B, and NK cells.
  • Process/Handle other human biological samples, including but not limited to urine, saliva, and stool.
  • Assist in monitoring environmental systems and maintaining compliance records.
  • Perform routine calibrations of instruments, maintain service contracts for essential lab equipment, and ensure completion of documentation.
  • Conduct quality testing of stored samples and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Prepare, process, and ship biological samples to external laboratories in compliance with SOPs and IATA regulations.
  • Maintain and review records of specimen processing, storage, distribution, and transfers for accuracy
  • Maintain, review, and submit EHS and quality related documents. 
  • Perform other laboratory procedures such as flow cytometry, and research-grade diagnostic testing.
  • Serve as a back up contact for vendors and or environmental monitoring systems
  • Support laboratory operations by implementing custom protocols, managing project timelines, and assisting with troubleshooting tasks.
  • Assist in researching, testing, and implementing new laboratory assays and procedures as directed by laboratory leaders.
  • Provide new hire training under the supervision of senior lab personnel to ensure safety and compliance with SOPs and regulations.
  • Aid in inventory management, purchasing, instrument maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate sample shipments and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating preventative maintenance, site visits, and product troubleshooting per laboratory leadership requests.
  • Perform other job functions or special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare and send out kits for on site, partner, and phlebotomists 
  • Aid in managing kit preparation and kit send out with couriers and internal staff

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science field with 1+ years of experience in a life science laboratory environment.
  • Experience with human blood samples is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a biobank or biorepository is highly preferred.
  • Must be willing to adhere to infectious disease and immunization protocols.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of basic process or utility equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a BSL-2 lab setting with biohazards and various chemicals.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
  • Availability to work full-time shifts, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 7 PM, with weekend availability as needed.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.


Workweek may be defined as:  Monday - Friday 9:30 - 6:00 PM
