Dir/Sen Dir Director, Program and Alliance Management and Operations

A broad and versatile candidate is needed for an operational leadership position that will coordinate operations, program, and alliance management for a fast-growing therapeutics startup focused on non-viral genetic medicines for cardiovascular disease.   The successful candidate will be adept at managing and responding to a variety of external and internal stakeholders, strategic pharma partners, internal staff, and external research partners. They will develop and implement strategies and specific protocols for tracking program progress, articulating and managing key program risks, and managing complex strategic pharma collaborations, including key research governance interactions. They will be agile and responsive in the context of a dynamic startup focused on cutting-edge science and will be able to identify and organize key activities to facilitate execution against an ambitious set of corporate objectives. Level is commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies and specific protocols for management of a multi-program portfolio, from target validation through pre-clinical development.
  • Manage strategic pharma partner collaboration interactions, including key research and governance interactions, deliverables reporting, and collaborator stakeholder management. Serve as a key bridge to internal functions.
  • Work with executive leadership to develop and communicate key program and strategic objectives and risks; develop and implement approaches to measure and articulate progress and key results associated with these objectives.
  • Support the establishment of right-sized business operations infrastructure in collaboration with fractional consultants and internal stakeholders.

Required Education and Skills:

  • B.A. and 7+ years of biotech / pharma program and / or alliance management experience; or M.A. / Ph.D. with 5+ years of biotech / pharma program and / or alliance management experience.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders to advance programs and adapt to company and strategic partner priorities.
  • Ability to anticipate key potential program and / or collaboration roadblocks and address them proactively.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to enable timely, high-quality deliverables across multiple projects in the organization.

Desired Experience:

  • Extensive program and alliance management experience in biotechnology and / or biopharma settings.
  • Demonstrated track record of advancing therapeutics programs to important proof points in a program management capacity.
  • Experience managing strategic biotech / pharma therapeutics collaborations, including research governance interactions and deliverables reporting.
  • Extensive experience managing matrixed internal / external research and preclinical development activities, including key milestone tracking, risk identification and mitigation, and key regulatory activities.
  • Proficient with project management and research operational management software tools.
  • Experience with oligonucleotide or cardiovascular therapeutics programs a plus.
