Position Responsibilities:
This engineer will drive electro-mechanical product and technology development from early-stage concepts through production launch and continuous improvement. The position blends hands-on R&D with systems-level engineering, integrating mechanical designs, electronics, sensing, controls, and connected technologies into practical, production-ready solutions.
- Design electro-mechanical products, subsystems, test fixtures, and technology demonstrators based on customer, market, and technical requirements.
- Integrate mechanical components with sensors, motors, actuators, switches, controls, power supplies, wiring, communications, and embedded or connected devices.
- Develop mechanical designs, assemblies, engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
- Apply engineering principles addressing tolerances, motion, loading, thermal conditions, environmental factors, electrical requirements, and product safety.
- Plan and execute prototype builds, bench testing, design verification, validation activities, and field trials.
- Develop test methods, fixtures, data-acquisition approaches, acceptance criteria, and supporting technical documentation.
- Analyze test results, perform root-cause investigations, resolve technical issues, and implement corrective design actions.
- Collaborate across R&D, product management, manufacturing, sales, service, suppliers, and global technical teams throughout development.
- Support design reviews, Stage-Gate reviews, risk assessments, cost reviews, production-readiness activities, pilot builds, and product launches.
- Partner with manufacturing engineering to improve manufacturability, assembly, inspection, serviceability, reliability, and cost.
- Research emerging technologies involving automation, sensing, controls, robotics, connected products, and advanced manufacturing.
- Generate and evaluate new concepts through structured experimentation and rapid prototyping while identifying potentially patentable innovations.
- Engage with customers and end users to understand applications, observe product performance, and validate engineering solutions.
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of released products when specialized engineering expertise is required.
Position requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience developing electro-mechanical products, equipment, automation, or engineered systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience integrating mechanical designs with electrical components, sensors, actuators, motors, controls, or embedded systems.
- Experience with 3D CAD, engineering drawings, bills of material, prototyping, testing, and design documentation.
- Experience using Planview Project Advantage or a comparable project-management platform to manage technical tasks, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
- Experience working within a formal Stage-Gate product-development process, including technical deliverables, gate preparation, reviews, and follow-through.
- Working knowledge of design for manufacturability, structured problem-solving, and product-validation methodologies.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities with a systems-level engineering approach.
- Hands-on capability in prototyping, experimentation, testing, troubleshooting, and laboratory environments.
- Ability to translate ambiguous customer or market needs into measurable and testable engineering requirements.
- Ability to independently plan technical work, manage competing priorities, meet commitments, and communicate risks effectively.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and technical-documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, specifications, test data, and manufacturing documentation.

Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, electrical schematic tools, or comparable engineering software.
- Experience within tooling, machining, metal forming, industrial equipment, robotics, automation, or discrete manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with PLCs, embedded controllers, industrial communications, data acquisition, or connected-product technologies.
- Familiarity with FMEA, tolerance analysis, statistical methods, Lean product development, or Design for Six Sigma.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers, customers, global teams, intellectual-property activities, or regulated product requirements.
