What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Case Evaluation & Strategy
· Evaluate new personal injury claims by reviewing medical records, liability, insurance coverage, and damages to determine case viability and develop a strategic plan designed to maximize recovery.
Case Development
· Build case value through thorough factual investigation, strategic medical guidance, evidence preservation, witness development, and early identification of liability and damages.
Pre-Litigation Advocacy
· Handle all aspects of pre-litigation personal injury matters from intake through settlement, including claims, examinations under oath, hearings, insurance negotiations, and other advocacy necessary to achieve outstanding client outcomes.
Negotiation & Settlement
· Aggressively negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing parties to secure maximum settlements while preparing every case as though it may ultimately proceed to litigation.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
· Lead, mentor, and develop a team of paralegals and case managers while creating a culture of accountability, urgency, and excellence. Conduct regular file reviews, remove roadblocks, establish priorities, and ensure every team member is proactively advancing their cases toward resolution.
Case Oversight
· Maintain complete ownership of your case inventory by ensuring all files move efficiently through each stage of the pre-litigation process. Monitor critical deadlines, treatment progression, records collection, demands, negotiations, and settlement opportunities to prevent stagnation and maximize results.
Client Experience
· Deliver exceptional client service through proactive communication, education, and guidance. Keep clients informed, manage expectations, and build trust throughout the life of every case.
Medical & Damages Analysis
· Analyze medical treatment, future care needs, lost earnings, vocational issues, and other damages while working closely with medical providers, experts, and vendors to maximize claim value.
Operational Excellence
· Work collaboratively with attorneys, litigation teams, medical providers, and firm leadership to continually improve workflows, increase efficiency, and maintain the highest quality standards across the department.
Professionalism & Ethics
· Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, confidentiality, and compliance with all applicable laws, court rules, and professional responsibility requirements.
Ownership Mindset
· Take full ownership of your cases and team performance. This role is for an attorney who enjoys building systems, coaching people, improving processes, and treating their practice as if it were their own. Success in this position is measured not only by outstanding settlements, but by developing a high-performing team that consistently moves cases forward with urgency and excellence.

· Strengthens operational efficiency by reinforcing clear workflows between case managers and the medical records team to avoid delays in case development
Your ability to balance speed, strategy, and quality ensures clients are well-served, teams stay aligned, and the firm continues its rapid, disciplined growth.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6–12 months, success in this role looks like:
· You independently manage a robust pre-litigation caseload, moving matters efficiently from intake through resolution while maintaining high quality and attention to detail
· You consistently maximize case value through strong case evaluation, strategic guidance, and effective negotiation
· You identify cases that require escalation to litigation and make timely, well-reasoned recommendations to ensure optimal outcomes
· You collaborate closely with case managers, holding them accountable to performance metrics by setting clear expectations, reviewing work product, and ensuring deadlines are met
· You take ownership of outcomes by maintaining the same level of accountability you expect from your case managers
· You review, refine, and approve demand packages prepared by case managers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and strong positioning for negotiation
· You ensure case managers are effectively coordinating with the medical records team to obtain all necessary records and bills in a timely manner
· You maintain proactive, consistent communication with clients, ensuring they feel informed and supported throughout the process
· You identify issues early, make timely recommendations, and help prevent bottlenecks
Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
· Active admission to the New York Bar
· 5 - 10 years of experience in Personal Injury law
· Strong communication, negotiation, research, and writing skills
· Ability to manage a robust case load independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
· Knowledge of New York regulations, and procedures required
· Must be located in or near the State of New York
· Strong communication skills—written and verbal
· Ability to think critically, prioritize effectively, and execute with speed
Nice to Have:
· Active Admission to one or more districts of the New York Federal Court
· Experience in a fast-growing or high-volume environment
· Comfort with ambiguity and evolving systems
· Experience in legal, professional services, or client-centric organizations
