The Role

This is a strategic, high-impact role for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced technology environment at the intersection of law, strategy, and innovation. You'll serve as a trusted advisor across TuneIn's business, leading our advertising technology and content licensing deals, counseling product and engineering teams, and providing broad legal support spanning corporate, employment, and regulatory matters. This role reports to the CEO of TuneIn and works in close collaboration with the General Counsel of Stingray Group and Stingray's international legal team.

Scope of Work

  • Lead TuneIn's ad tech contracting. Serve as the primary legal partner on advertising technology transactions, including programmatic and direct advertising deals, and demand- and supply-side platform integrations. Identify and navigate the privacy, data protection, and regulatory issues embedded in these deals.
  • Negotiate content licensing and distribution agreements. Draft and negotiate agreements with content partners and platform distribution partners.
  • Provide product counseling. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to advise on new features, product launches, data flows, and platform integrations. Spot legal and regulatory issues early in the product development lifecycle and help teams build compliant, user-facing experiences.
  • Support corporate and governance matters. Handle routine corporate work. Step in on other general corporate needs as they arise.
  • Provide employment law support. Assist with employment-related matters, including offer letters, separation agreements, contractor arrangements, and workplace policies, partnering with outside counsel as needed on more complex issues.
  • Drive commercial and legal strategy for key transactions, advising on structure, risk allocation, and business objectives. Advise business partners on deal structures, pricing models, data usage, intellectual property, and compliance considerations.
  • Develop scalable legal frameworks and playbooks that strengthen contracting discipline and enable speed without sacrificing quality. Build and maintain templates, form agreements, terms of service, policies, and internal guidance across TuneIn's legal needs.
  • Serve as a go-to legal partner across the company, working with Sales, Ad Operations, Content, Business Development, Product, Engineering, Marketing, People, and Finance teams. Translate legal risk into practical business guidance that accelerates decision-making.
  • Help identify and proactively address legal risks across the business, particularly as TuneIn scales its advertising business, content partnerships, and platform integrations. Stay current on evolving privacy regulations, ad tech enforcement trends, and industry self-regulatory frameworks.
  • Enhance operational efficiency through continuous improvement of contracting processes, approval flows, and deal lifecycle tracking. Build internal training and guidance for commercial and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the U.S.
  • 10+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience, with a focus on commercial and technology transactions. Strong preference for candidates who have worked in ad tech or at an ad-supported media or technology company.
  • Proven ability to lead complex commercial deals, including advertising technology agreements, content licensing, and distribution partnerships.
  • Substantive experience with data privacy and protection laws and regulations (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, state privacy laws) as applied to advertising technology, audience data, and digital platforms.
  • Experience providing product counseling to engineering and product teams on data practices, consumer-facing features, and regulatory compliance.
  • Comfort operating as a generalist across multiple legal disciplines, including commercial, product, corporate, and employment law.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and an ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate independently and translate legal advice into actionable business strategy.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, with adaptability and openness to taking on new or unfamiliar legal areas.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong judgment and high integrity.
  • Prior experience managing legal professionals.
