Product Manager

About Turtlebox Audio

The first Turtlebox was born out of necessity. After breaking every “loud” product on the market through routine outdoor use, the idea of the Turtlebox was born in our garage, not as a business but just for personal use. Nothing else could get the job done.

Most portable speakers aren’t actually meant for the outdoors and can’t withstand the elements, the ones that can aren’t loud enough to be heard. When you’re at the beach or on an ATV, you need sound to carry in order to hear it over the wind, waves, and boat engines, you need a Turtlebox.

We soon realized that there was a huge need for the Turtlebox among likeminded adventurers and our journey began to set out to make the world’s loudest most rugged outdoor portable speaker.

Role Overview:

Turtlebox makes loud, rugged, unapologetically outdoor audio gear — and we’ve grown fast because we obsess over products that actually work in the wild. We’re a small team with a big footprint, and we’re now looking for a Product Manager who wants to own things end-to-end: the idea, the build, the launch, and the iteration after that.

This isn’t a hand-off role. You’ll sit at the center of engineering, operations, marketing, and manufacturing — defining what we build and making sure it happens on time and done right. You’ll need to be comfortable in the weeds one day and in a strategy conversation the next.

We’re in a growth phase, which means this role will evolve. The right person sees that as an opportunity, not a risk.

What Makes This Role Different:

Most PM roles have you defining what to build and handing it off. Here, you own both the “what” and the “how” — from early concept to post-launch iteration. You’ll work on a product line that has genuine fans and a growing market, on a team small enough that your decisions move fast and your fingerprints are on everything. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role with real room to grow as the company does.

This role is based in Houston, TX and is fully in-office, Monday–Friday. This position reports directly to the Product Director. Some availability for global team meetings across time zones is required, along with up to 5% international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Own Your Products (Start to Finish)

  • Take products from early concept through development, launch, and beyond
  • Define what matters: performance, durability, features, and real-world usability
  • Sweat the details that separate a good product from a great one

Run the Program

  • Build and own project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Keep cross-functional teams aligned and moving forward, including internal, contract manufacturers, and supplier partners
  • Call out risks early and solve problems before they become blocker

Be the Hub

  • Work side-by-side with Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Packaging, Sales & Customer Service
  • Keep everyone pointed in the same direction

Live the Product

  • Understand how customers use Turtlebox in the wild
  • Get hands-on with product testing, breaking, improving
  • Turn real-world feedback into better design and performance

Push the Product Forward

  • Track product performance after launch
  • Identify improvements and drive iteration
  • Contribute to future roadmap decisions

Adapt and Fill Gaps

  • Take on responsibilities beyond traditional PM scope
  • Help build processes, not just follow them
  • Adjust quickly as priorities shift

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Other responsibilities can and will be assigned either temporarily or permanently to this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Entrepreneurship, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5–7 years of product management experience in consumer electronics or physical consumer goods
  • Experience bringing premium products to market.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: you understand customer insights, spot market gaps, and translate competitive data into product decisions
  • Strong project management and timeline ownership
  • Experience working with global contract manufacturers and supplier partners
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Strong communication and cross-functional alignment skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change

Preferred Experience:

  • Consumer audio or outdoor/rugged product experience
  • Familiarity with plastic or soft goods manufacturing processes
  • Startup or small-team background
  • Experience shipping a product people are genuinely passionate about
  • Background in business development, a technical BS degree, or demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership
