Accounting Manager

Who we are:

Third way health (www.thirdway.health) helps medical practices and healthcare organizations across the United States to improve the patient experience while reducing the administrative burden on practice owners and management. We enable practices and healthcare organizations to enhance the experience of their patients by providing them with a leading technology platform and world class services. What unites us is our passion to support physicians and help patients from all backgrounds to have a better healthcare experience.

About the position:

We are looking for a full-time Accounting Manager to join our team in Lima. This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you will manage the day-to-day accounting operations for our Peruvian entity, ensure full compliance with SUNAT and local statutory requirements, and maintain our books under IFRS / NIC-NIIF. You will report directly to the Finance Director. English at B2 or higher is mandatory — this role involves regular communication with US-based stakeholders and the broader finance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records under IFRS / NIC-NIIF; understand how Peruvian statutory books feed into the parent company’s consolidated reporting.
  • Prepare and file statutory financial statements (Estados Financieros) in compliance with SUNAT requirements.
  • Manage Peruvian tax obligations: Impuesto a la Renta (3rd category), PDT filings, and electronic billing under SEE. Manage IGV as a saldo a favor del exportador — the entity’s only income is an intercompany service invoice exempt from IGV under the exportación de servicios regime; input IGV from local vendors accumulates as a tax credit to be applied or recovered from SUNAT.
  • Prepare and sign financial statements as the designated Contador responsable — core function, not an occasional task.
  • Own the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts with obsessive precision — every account, every currency, every cycle. Unreconciled items are investigated and resolved before close is declared done.
  • Own intercompany reconciliations — clean, agreed balances every cycle; differences are resolved, not carried forward.
  • Manage the full fixed asset register: PP&E, intangibles, and right-of-use assets under IFRS 16 — additions, disposals, depreciation/amortization, impairment reviews, and physical verification.
  • Apply IFRS 16 to lease arrangements: identify, measure at inception, and maintain lease liabilities and ROU assets through the lease term.
  • Manage accounts payable; ensure payments are accurate, authorized, and on time.
  • Coordinate with the external payroll vendor: CTS, gratificaciones, ESSALUD, ONP/AFP, and PLAME filings. Validate output against the GL every cycle.
  • Maintain a practical internal controls environment — every transaction traceable, every balance explainable, no audit surprises.
  • Support transfer pricing documentation by maintaining organized intercompany transaction records.
  • Compile and present financial data to the Finance Director; flag issues proactively.
  • Monitor SUNAT resolutions and local regulatory updates; apply them operationally without waiting to be told.

Requirements:

  • Contador Público Colegiado (CPC) — required. An active Colegio de Contadores Públicos membership is mandatory to sign financial statements.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years of handling full Peruvian statutory and tax compliance independently.
  • Strong command of IFRS / NIC-NIIF — the technical foundation of the role. US GAAP exposure is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Hands-on SUNAT experience: IGV (saldo a favor / exportación de servicios), Impuesto a la Renta, PDTs, SEE electronic billing, and PLAME.
  • Willing and legally authorized to sign financial statements as a responsible accountant — non-negotiable.
  • Demonstrably strong bank reconciliation skills — comfortable reconciling accounts with mixed PEN and USD transactions.
  • Hands-on fixed asset experience under IFRS — PP&E, intangibles, and ROU assets (IFRS 16): full cycle from recognition through disposal.
  • Experience coordinating outsourced payroll and tax vendors — able to validate output, not just forward information.
  • Practical internal controls mindset — designs controls from the start, documents them, and maintains them.
  • Strong ERP experience — SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or equivalent. Chart of accounts, journal workflows, reporting, and fixed asset modules.
  • Experience with SUNAT’s electronic billing systems (Facturador SUNAT or equivalent SEE provider).
  • English proficiency B2 or higher (CEFR) — mandatory.
