Accruity

Tax Compliance Associate

At Accruity, we’re building something meaningful — for our clients and for each other. We’re a people-focused accounting services firm that helps business owners get back to what they do best by handling the financial heavy-lifting with clarity, consistency, and care. We support nearly 100 clients across the country with scalable, high-quality accounting solutions — and we’re just getting started.

We’re growing intentionally, investing in the right systems, structure, and culture to support great work and sustainable careers. Inside our team, we lead with trust, autonomy, and accountability — no micromanaging, no performative fluff. Just thoughtful self-starters doing real work, done well.

We believe the right fit matters most. We look for people who take ownership, invest in relationships, and aim to raise the standard every day. Our ideal teammate is reliable, curious, collaborative, and committed to growing — someone who welcomes feedback, takes initiative, and values being part of something bigger than themselves. If you’re always learning and believe how you show up matters, we think you’ll thrive here.

ACCRUITY

Tax Compliance Associate

Is this YOU…

  • A production-focused accountant who has been in the thick of a CPA firm's busy season and knows what it takes to push a high volume of returns through a system without things breaking down?
  • Someone who can own the full coordination layer between clients, an offshore return prep team, and internal reviewers — keeping every return moving without being chased?
  • A tracker by nature — open items, due dates, and filing statuses are always current because you made them that way?
  • Energized by the operational side of tax: getting returns through the system on time rather than being the face in front of the client?
  • Someone who thrives on checklists and well-defined processes — the more moving parts, the more in your element?

We're seeking a Tax Compliance Associate to be the right hand of our Tax Compliance Execution Leader. Accruity is a real estate-focused accounting and advisory firm with a fast-growing tax compliance practice — and we run it through an efficient, offshore-leveraged delivery model where a pay-per-return team handles core return preparation and our onshore staff ensures quality, completeness, and on-time filing.

Your job is to keep returns moving from intake to final filing without getting stuck. You manage the coordination layer between clients, our offshore prep team, and internal reviewers. You track everything. You close loops. You escalate before timelines are missed, not after.

What You'll Do

  • Tax Workpaper Preparation & Review Support – Prepare and maintain all workpapers required to support accurate and complete client tax filings; flag deficiencies before return prep begins so nothing stalls mid-workflow.
  • Client Document Intake & Open Item Tracking – Own the client document collection process across all engagements; review every intake for completeness; follow up proactively on missing items; maintain a real-time open item log accessible to you and the Execution Leader at any moment.
  • Return Preparation Coordination – Assign, manage, and monitor return prep tasks with our offshore pay-per-return team; enforce firm standards on output quality; escalate delays and deficiencies immediately rather than absorbing them.
  • Filing Package Completion – Prepare final filing packages, e-file authorizations, client delivery materials, and internal documentation for every completed return — nothing leaves the system incomplete.
  • Client Filing Status Updates – Keep the Tax Compliance Execution Leader and internal stakeholders current on return status, blockers, approaching deadlines, and next steps; maintain visibility so the team can act, not react.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ busy seasons in a meaningful production role at a CPA firm focused on tax compliance — you've lived the pressure of high-volume, deadline-driven execution and know what it takes to push returns through a system without things falling apart.
  • 1–3 years of experience in public accounting, tax compliance, or a high-volume tax production environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements without losing details — proven in a real environment, not just described in an interview.
  • Process-oriented by nature: you follow systems, improve them when something doesn't fit, and document the fix.
  • Clear, concise written communication — you'll coordinate regularly with an offshore prep team and precision matters.
  • Hands-on experience with CCH Axcess preferred; exposure to Drake, UltraTax, or equivalent also considered.
  • Real estate tax experience (partnerships, K-1s, multi-entity structures) is a plus, not a gate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA candidate preferred.

Why Join Us?

  • Right-Hand Seat in a Growing Practice – You'll sit directly alongside the Tax Compliance Execution Leader, building the operational core of a function that's growing fast and investing in technology and offshore leverage to scale.
  • Real Estate Tax Specialization – One of the most in-demand niches in accounting. You'll build deep, marketable expertise inside a focused practice.
  • Clear Career Path – Senior Associate → Tax Manager → Tax Compliance Execution Leader as the practice grows.
  • Tech-Enabled Delivery Model – You're working inside a firm that has actually invested in CCH Axcess, offshore automation, and AI tooling — not just talking about it.
  • Remote flexibility. – Work remotely with flexibility for team collaboration and firm events.

Compensation

  • Base Salary – Commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with matching
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Variable comp program in development for Q3 2026 rollout

Get Returns Across the Finish Line.

We're looking for a production-minded accountant who's been in the thick of a real busy season and wants to build their career inside a firm that's scaling intentionally. If you know what it means to own a process and hold the line — let's talk.
