About the role

Your central mandate is to act as a direct support to execute tasks as directed under the guidance of the Production Engineering Team Leader and Production Engineer/s as required.


Predominately this role is responsible and accountable for the following:

  • Effective processing and resolution of RMA’s (return merchandise authorisations) and quality handling reporting as such aligned with our SLA’s. This role is accountable for the inspection/re-calibration and reporting of products returning from the field for service.
  • Execution of internal and external calibration for all production tools and test equipment where applicable via the MaintainX platform.
  • Assist in Investigation of quarantines where rework is required with device/product management from quarantine stage to repeat calibration and validation to ensure the product is saleable.
  • Assist with FAI as required/directed by the production engineering team leader, albeit mechanical and electronic components.

Other duties/responsibilities the role may be required to support if directed:

  • Production Readiness and Quality: Ensuring the production environment is prepared to execute assembly, with a focus on maintaining strict quality standards supporting the Production Engineers as directed
  • NPI Support: Assisting Senior Engineering delegates and SME’s with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, helping to transition designs from Engineering to manufacturing by assisting with developing, documenting, and validating assembly processes and tooling as directed.


What you'll do

  • Assist in investigation of quarantines
  • Documentation of vendor NCR’s
  • Assisting in supporting activities for INCR’s and PCR’s (Non-conformances and product/process change requests)
  • Minor work instruction updates
  • Support the Production Engineering team by providing assistance with tasks as directed
  • RMA handling and contribution to root cause analysis, and quoting of RMA related repairs and services.
  • FAI of parts and components as required, using basic metrology tools including PCBA requiring inspection and operating firmware flashing, which may require  structured problem solving, fault finding and basic debugging skills.
  • Maintenance and calibration - ensuring all production tools and equipment is calibrated with clear communication with the respective production engineering area owner to ensure equipment calibration is scheduled and performed without impacting production.
  • Support continuous improvement and manage change in the production team as directed by the Production Engineer/s
  • Assist with as required and directed, any tasks associated with the implementation of new products into manufacturing, this includes validation builds, drafting of process / work instructions / test instructions as directed.
  • Support the development of our Quality Systems (especially QA/QC) to meet Advanced Navigation's quality targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering and preferably 1 year experience in a similar position, in a similar industry;
  • Awareness of suppliers/supply chain relevant to Advanced Navigation (Machining, 3D Printing, Dispensing, PCBA, Optics, MEMs).).
  • Exposure in the assembly & fabrication of cutting edge mechanical and electronic technology products or similar; 
  • Capable of upskilling quickly to develop technical capabilities in a challenging technical domain;
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders across the business, including Interns, R&D / Production Engineers and Production Technicians;
  • Exposure to structured problem solving, fault finding and basic debugging skills
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to provide accurate technical documentation;
  • Be highly motivated with an energetic, responsive and decisive disposition;
  • Strong knowledge of WHS practices;
  • Proven high standard of attention to detail, time management and “follow-through”.
