Why This Role Matters
As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing geospatial polygon data using QGIS and other GIS tools. Your primary focus will be on generating high-quality spatial datasets, performing geospatial analysis, and supporting data enrichment through web scraping techniques.
What You’ll Do
- Create and edit polygons, boundaries, and spatial datasets using QGIS.
- Perform geospatial data validation, cleaning, and quality checks.
- Extract and enrich location-based data using web scraping techniques.
- Automate repetitive GIS workflows using Python scripts.
- Work with multiple data sources such as APIs, CSVs, GeoJSON, and shapefiles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand spatial data requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in geospatial datasets across projects.
- Maintain documentation for workflows, data sources, and processes.
- Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and improve existing pipelines.
What You Bring
Your profile
- 1–2 years of experience in GIS, geospatial analysis, or related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with QGIS (polygon creation, editing, spatial joins, projections).
- Experience in web scraping using Python libraries like BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, or Selenium.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
- Good knowledge of geospatial data formats (GeoJSON, Shapefile, KML, etc.).
- Familiarity with coordinate systems and map projections.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to handle large datasets and optimize workflows.
Good to Have
- Experience with PostGIS or spatial databases.
- Exposure to APIs and data ingestion pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Experience with data visualization tools or mapping dashboards.
- Understanding of ETL workflows and data pipelines.
