Job Summary

This position oversees the planning and execution of BAFT activities in Asia including the promotion of thought leadership, development of best practices, coordination of policy advocacy, facilitation of training and education and drives activities that build a community across transaction banking in Asia. 

 

The incumbent will directly support the Asia Council and their initiatives and will drive the planning and execution of work streams to deliver the BAFT value proposition with relevance to the Asia-Pacific market. The incumbent will also be responsible for the implementation of global BAFT initiatives originating from other regions, ensuring relevance for the Asia-Pacific market.

Key Duties

Execution of BAFT Asia Priorities and Initiatives (50%) 

  1. Work with BAFT Asia Council and BAFT CEO to define and refine BAFT Asia priorities 
  1. Support of Asia Council – serve as Secretariat for Asia Council coordinating meetings, agendas, minutes, speakers, and follow up on execution items 
  1. Organize and execute working groups to deliver on Asia Council defined priorities 
  1. Support of Asia Committees – serve as Secretariat for Asia-based standing committees coordinating meetings, agendas, minutes, speakers and follow up 
  1. Maintain regular coordination with BAFT HQ and other Regional Councils to connect Asia-activities with existing BAFT initiatives in other regions 
  1. Drive communication and awareness of BAFT initiatives across Asia-Pacific 

 Planning and Execution of Asia Programs & Events (15%) 

  1. Work with BAFT Events team and Asia Council to plan annual Asia Forum program 
  1. Work with BAFT Asia Council to plan local engagement events and BAFT presence at important Asia industry events 
  1. Plan and execute webinars to deliver thought leadership to Asia constituents 
  1. Coordinate with BAFT HQ team to execute member outreach and other programs in Asia-Pacific 
  1. Represent BAFT as a speaker and/or participant in industry programs (as relevant) 

 Policy Coordination and Engagement (15%) 

  1. Monitor and assess policy developments of interest to BAFT membership 
  1. Assemble working groups to coordinate advocacy positions and develop comment letters as needed 
  1. Establish working connectivity with key policy makers and partners across Asia 
  1. Coordinate with BAFT HQ on regulatory engagement 

 Membership Support and Engagement (15%) 

  1. Serve as point of contact for member interest and inquiries from Asia 
  1. Raise awareness of BAFT initiatives and activities through regular member communications (LinkedIn, email, etc.) 
  1. Coordinate with BAFT Business Development and local membership champions to ensure alignment of Membership Outreach initiatives 
  1.  Maintain communication with key stakeholders and members including under-engaged members to ensure strong connectivity to BAFT 
  1. Support BAFT HQ-driven initiatives such as BAFT Future Leaders and Women in Transaction Banking to include Asia-based participation 

 Miscellaneous Support (5%) 

  1. Support communications between BAFT HQ and Asia-based members 
  1. Support business development and collections efforts with Asia-based members 
  1. Support membership engagement efforts with Asia-based members 

Qualifications

  • Excellent [oral and written] communication skills with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority 
  • Excellent project management skills – organization and follow up 
  • Excellent meeting coordination – setting agendas, documenting action items/follow-up, ensuring collaboration and focus 
  • Strong writing skills (comment letters, white papers, member communications) 
  • Knowledge of transaction banking 
  • Self-starter, results-driven work ethic 
  • Fluent English communication (oral/written) 

Supervision/Authority

  • The position has no standing direct reports but will oversee activities from any consultants or temporary employees brought on for specific scopes of work. 

Travel

  • Estimated travel is 10%.
