Summary:

The Sr. Market Access & Policy Director will lead state-level market access strategies to expand Bamboo Health’s presence, with a focus on federal and state funding, including Medicaid, block grant programs, and state-only appropriations, and policy engagement.

This role works closely with policymakers, state agency leaders, and external stakeholder partners to secure funding, navigate procurement, and influence policy and regulatory environments that support adoption of Bamboo’s solutions. Internally, they will partner cross-functionally to align market strategy with evolving policy, funding, and data-driven healthcare dynamics.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Identify and secure state and federal funding opportunities (e.g., Medicaid, appropriations, Rural Health Transformation, Opioid Settlement funds) to support market expansion.
  • Track, interpret, and influence state legislation, rulemaking, and regulatory activity impacting Bamboo’s solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state Medicaid agencies, HHS leadership, legislators, and key policymakers to drive adoption and support of Bamboo’s solutions.
  • Develop and execute state-specific market access strategies, including navigating procurement processes, budget cycles, and funding pathways.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product and Commercial teams to align solutions with policy trends, Medicaid priorities, regulatory requirements, and emerging considerations related to data, analytics, and AI in healthcare.
  • Engage with industry associations and advocacy groups to shape policy, strengthen partnerships, and expand Bamboo’s presence.
  • Support and advance procurement opportunities, including contributing to RFP responses and identifying pathways for sole source awards.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including contract lobbyists and strategic partners, to advance Bamboo’s policy and market objectives.

 

What Success Looks Like…

In 3 months…

  • You will have a basic understanding of Bamboo products and the intersection between those products and the broader state and federal policy landscape.
  • You will have met and developed productive working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • You will have been introduced to key external partners in your territory.
  • You will have a strong working relationship with the company’s contract lobbyists.

 

In 6 months…

  • You will have completed plans for your territory with buy-in from key internal stakeholders.
  • You will have started executing on that activity with outreach to key government officials.

 

In 12 months…

  • You will have secured support for statewide procurement in your territory.
  • You will have developed a key new strategic partnership in your territory to support Bamboo’s business objectives.

What You Need:

  • B.A. required, M.P.H or M.B.A preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in health policy and legislative relations ideally with a focus on health IT, Medicaid, and behavioral health.
  • Experience working in both the public sector and the digital health space preferred.
  • Comfort and experience working with a variety of external colleagues, including public and elected officials.
  • Proven experience with working in matrixed organizations effectively.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
  • A proactive can-do attitude, along with a strong capacity for empathy, emotional intelligence, and an inherent sense of curiosity.
  • Comfort using or learning AI-supported tools (e.g., ChatGPT, CoPilot, or role-specific tools) to improve daily workflows. 
  • A forward-thinking, curious mindset with an openness to experimenting with new technologies. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and creativity in designing solutions. 
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly evolving environments. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment, ensuring high-quality virtual interactions with minimal distractions.  
  • The ability to travel frequently for work.
