Hours:            Sunday - Saturday, 24 hours/day, days, evenings, overnights

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Temporary/Seasonal

Salary:            $23 hourly

DEPARTMENT

Bayaud Works is a subsidiary of AC Disaster Consulting.  Our Temporary Staffing Service collaborates with federal, State, and multiple City, County, and Private employers to staff their open positions on an as-needed basis. Bayaud Works was created to provide opportunities to individuals with barriers to employment.  We have since evolved to include employer staffing and temporary positions for shelter services, grounds keeping, safety patrol, janitorial services, transportation, delivery services, and many more.


POSITION SUMMARY

****Must have a current Colorado State Guard License****

Bayaud Works is responsible for managing Emergency Cold Weather Shelters, Micro-Communities, and Migrant Shelters during Colorado's winter months and in emergency situations.  The shelters will be set up and operated by Bayaud Works staff when cold weather or other emergencies may be a hindrance to the homeless/migrant community.  The Security Guard will provide safety and security to shelter guests and staff. As a Security Guard, you will act as a Bayaud Works ambassador and support the Bayaud Works mission. Employees are expected to maintain professional working behavior, be a team player, and be responsible for exceptional customer service at the assigned facilities. This person is compassionate, detail-oriented, and willing to learn new skills as needs arise. 


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS  

Position pays $23.00/ hr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

·         Lock doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings.  

·         Answer radio calls and investigate disturbances.  

·         Monitor and authorize the entrance and departure of residents, employees, visitors, and other persons. 

·         Complete daily log of activities/ irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, and unusual occurrences on incident reports. 

·         Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.  

·         Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons, document on incident report. 

·         Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid or by obtaining assistance from paramedics document on the incident report.  

·         Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.  

·         Warn persons of rule infractions and violations.  

·         Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.  

·         Meet with the prior Shelter Lead to receive the shelter phone and gather any important information (i.e., overview of what happened and what to possibly watch out for) 

·         Give staff shift assignments, relaying all information given from the project manager, ensure closing of stations, and fill out the shift report. 

·         Complete shift report after every shift and turn it into the project manager. 

·         Interact with operations management, law enforcement, city leadership, and other entities professionally. 

·         Report and document any rule violations, safety issues, serious concerns, etc., to the project manager. 

·         Engage in conflict resolution should issues requiring an intervention arise. 

·         Perform other assigned duties as needed 


QUALIFICATIONS

·         Prefer experience with homeless, at-risk, and vulnerable populations.

·         Understanding of the homeless population and their unique needs.

·         Possess strong verbal communication and listening skills.

·         Ability to exercise extreme patience and compassion.

·         Must be comfortable working with a diverse population

·         Comfortable in a fluid and unpredictable environment.

·         Ability to think quickly and respond calmly to stressful and emergency situations


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma/GED.

Must be able to pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation background, physical examination, and security guard training.   


ALTERNATIVE WORK PLAN

This position is not eligible for an “Alternative Work Plan”. All duties must be performed in the office or in the community with participants.
