ABOUT THE ROLE

Billingsley Company is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our in-house tax team. This role supports the preparation of federal and Texas Margin Tax returns across a diverse portfolio of entities — including partnerships and LLCs (ranging from single-property rentals to complex multi-property, multi-division consolidations), S-Corps, corporations, HOAs, and family trusts. The position also contributes to general ledger accounting, work paper management, and financial reporting for budgeting and forecasting purposes.

Tax season runs mid-February through October 15, and our team is structured to maintain a healthy work/life balance throughout.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  Prepare federal income tax returns and Texas Margin Tax returns accurately and on time

  Maintain neat, well-organized, and accurate work papers supporting all returns

  Prepare year-end tax work papers in coordination with filing deadlines

  Prepare monthly financial reports, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets as needed

  Perform quarterly review and analysis of partner distributions and contributions

  Assist in preparation of annual estimated value balance sheets and supporting financials

  Support additional projects and initiatives as directed by tax managers

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (Accounting major strongly preferred)

  1–3 years of experience in tax preparation, with demonstrated experience in basic to complex partnership returns

  Working knowledge of partnership, S-Corp, corporation, and trust tax law

  Proficiency in general ledger accounting, including balance sheet, income statement, and trial balance analysis

  Advanced Excel skills

  Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  Experience with Lacerte Tax Software or a comparable tax prep platform

  Familiarity with Yardi Voyager
