About The Role
As a Medical Assistant (Part-Time) in our Medical Assistant department, you will support physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This hourly, part-time position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment. You will assist with both administrative and clinical tasks, helping ensure that patients have a positive experience from check-in through follow-up. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative healthcare team while maintaining a flexible part-time schedule.
What You'll Do
- Greet and prepare patients for examinations, including verifying patient identity and updating medical history and current medications
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments within the scope of a medical assistant
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as rooming patients, preparing exam rooms, and restocking supplies
- Collect and properly label specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols
- Document patient information accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and referrals as directed by providers
- Manage patient flow to ensure timely and efficient visits for patients and providers
- Provide patients with basic education and instructions as directed by the provider, ensuring understanding before discharge
- Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies, including HIPAA and organizational guidelines
- Support the healthcare team with additional clinical and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (certificate or diploma)
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent), or eligibility and willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe if required by state or employer
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Previous experience as a medical assistant in an outpatient or clinical setting preferred, but new graduates will be considered
- Proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills and experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care, professionalism, and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Ability to work part-time, including specific days and hours as scheduled, with reliability and punctuality
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods and to lift or position patients and equipment as needed, in accordance with job demands
