About The Role

As a Part-Time Medical Assistant, you will support our clinical team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Working in the Medical Assistant department, you will be responsible for both clinical and administrative tasks, including assisting with procedures, performing point-of-care testing, managing multiple phone lines, and handling documentation via fax. This role is ideal for someone who is fast, efficient, and able to multi-task in a busy medical environment, while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and strong patient communication. You will collaborate closely with providers and other care team members to ensure a smooth and safe flow of daily operations.


What You'll Do

  • Assist providers with clinical procedures and examinations in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
  • Perform EKGs, administer injections, and carry out point-of-care testing as ordered by providers
  • Prepare patients for visits, including obtaining vital signs, documenting histories, and updating medical records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, if applicable
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, organized, and stocked condition
  • Manage multiple phone lines, including answering patient calls, taking messages, and routing information to the appropriate clinical staff
  • Handle incoming and outgoing faxes, including medical records, referrals, prescriptions, and lab reports, ensuring accurate documentation and timely follow-up
  • Support patient flow by rooming patients efficiently, coordinating with front desk and clinical staff, and assisting with scheduling follow-up appointments as needed
  • Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies at all times
  • Document all patient care activities accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively and assisting colleagues as needed


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program from a recognized school
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EKGs, injections, and assisting with clinical procedures
  • Experience performing point-of-care testing in an outpatient or similar environment
  • Ability to manage multiple phone lines professionally and efficiently
  • Familiarity with using fax systems for medical records, orders, and clinical documentation
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a patient-focused attitude
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy; experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred
  • Ability to comply with all infection control, safety, and confidentiality regulations
  • Availability to work part-time, hourly shifts as scheduled, which may include varied days and times depending on clinic needs
