About the role

  • The Unit Manager ensures the engagement, participation, safety and security of clients and staff at all times and support clients in engaging in positive leisure, recreational activities. The Unit Manager will manage day to day activities of the programs. The Unit Manager will also supervise the portion of the admission process managed by the Recovery Specialists, ensuring that the client receives a tour and orientation and that his or her belongings and medication are properly logged and stored. He/she also ensures that each client gets a toxicology screen upon intake and that the results sheet is uploaded into Evolv (EHR). Also supervises the discharge process. The Unit Manager submits work orders when maintenance is needed and works in collaboration with the Program Director to keep inventory of supplies and food. This staff member will serve as on call backup to Recovery Specialists. Coordinates activities for the clients, peer groups, and AA/NA commitments. Co-supervises along with the Program Director all Recovery Specialists, provides training, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and Casa Esperanza Inc. policies and procedures.

What you'll do

  • Qualifications
      • Ensures supervision is provided for the times the Program Director is not on-site.
      • Provides capacity building training for the Recovery Specialists.
      • Assists staff in developing co-occurring treatment skills and fidelity to the evidence-based practices utilized at the program.
      • Manages the daily client schedule, ensures that all client activities are completed
      • Supervises the admission and discharge processes on the shift to ensure protocol adherence
      • Gives tour and orientation to the clients when admitted to the program.
      • Ensures that clients’ property and medication are logged and stored.
      • Submit work orders when maintenance is needed.
      • Collaborates with the Program Director to manage the inventory
      • Responsible for crisis intervention and engaging appropriate clinical supports and emergency services as appropriate and required
      • Manages and reviews controlled substance log MMRS
      • Conducts reviews of medication files to ensure Recovery Specialists are documenting according to medication policy.
      • Manages toxicology screening including all toxicology screening training for Recovery Specialists
      • Review Recovery Specialists Station log books to ensure all documentation required are completed.
      • Maintain discarded medication log book
        • Work closely with the Program Director to ensure Recovery Specialist Station responsibilities are being met.
        • Understands the structure and activities that occur during each shift, and ensures that staff are trained and oriented to meet shift requirements
        • Collaborates with Program Director to ensure facility is in compliance with licensing standards
        • Assist the Program Director to schedule shift coverage for Recovery Specialists including yearly holiday schedules.
        • Responsible to ensure coverage for all Recovery Specialists shifts, and covers shifts as needed
        • Responsible for coordinating twice monthly Recovery Specialists meeting with the Program Director
        • Participates in weekly individual meetings with the Program Director.
        • Responsible for ensuring Recovery Specialists implement all safety and security protocols for the program, including:
          1. completing regular rounds
          2. assist with room search as needed
          3. monitoring the Recovery Specialists Station
          4. completing daily checklist and logs
          5. ensuring that all items that are potentially dangerous are secured in a locked location i.e. knives, curling irons, irons, razors, etc.
          6. implementing Universal Precautions as needed
          7. monitoring all alarms and security cameras
          8. reporting any and all safety and security concerns to appropriate authorities and staff in compliance with Casa Esperanza, Inc. safety protocols
        • Provide Recovery Specialists support at the Recovery Specialists Station area as needed.
        • Coordinates activities, meetings, and support for the client including:
          1. Social activities, movie nights, holydays
          2. Peer Groups
          3. AA/NA Commitments
          4. Peer Recovery Coaching Support.
        • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities:

Knowledge and Skills necessary for the position:

  • Strong verbal/written skills
  • Ability to understand and maintain client programmatic confidentiality/privacy
  • Ability to work as member of a treatment team
  • Ability to problem solve programmatic concerns with the Program Director
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with clients, vendors, and external providers in a professional manner
  • Ability to understand and manage moral/ethical boundaries with clients/staff
  • Must have computer/data entry skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position (see below)

 

Experience necessary for the position:

  • Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification preferred; willingness to acquire within 6 months
  • Minimum (2) years’ experience with substance abusing population
  • Experience working on a team with mental health or medical professionals preferred
  • Experience managing a reception area preferred
  • Minimum (2) years in recovery if applicable

 

Education/Training required:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required. Associates degree in psychology, social work or a similar field preferred
  • Knowledge of addiction recovery process required
  • CPR Certification
  • AED Certification
  • NARCAN Certification


Schedule: FT 40 Hours

Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
