Campus Missionary

As a Campus Missionary, you will serve on a university campus as part of a dynamic missionary team, reaching students, building relationships, proclaiming the Gospel, and helping form leaders who can renew the world through Jesus. 

Receive our world-class training through our one-year Formation Program, which is designed to equip new missionaries with the training, formation, and practical tools needed to serve effectively in campus ministry.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Building relationships and accompanying students.
• Reaching university students through intentional outreach, personal accompaniment, and evangelization.
• Facilitating opportunities for students to encounter Jesus and grow as missionary disciples.
• Encouraging students to take the next steps in faith, leadership, and mission.
• Collaborating with a dynamic team of missionaries to serve the mission of CCO on campus.
• Participating in CCO training, team life, and ongoing missionary formation.
• Supporting the local campus movement through prayer, outreach, events, discipleship, and leadership development. 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• • A personal commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of evangelization.
  • Willingness to proclaim Jesus and help form Christ-centred, Spirit-filled leaders.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships and accompany others in their faith journey.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to serve as part of a team and receive formation, training, and feedback.
  • Openness to being placed on any CCO campus based on mission needs and fit.
  • Availability to begin employment in May, and willingness to raise the necessary funds for employment.
• Preferred
• • Previous involvement with CCO as a student, leader, or participant.
  • Experience leading or participating in CCO faith studies.
  • Experience in campus ministry, parish ministry, youth ministry, missionary work, or student leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, invite others into mission, and follow through on commitments.

• Wage: Campus Missionaries receive a monthly salary equivalent to the minimum wage of the province of employment and are based on a 40-hour work week. Salaries increase with years of experience.
• Location: Successful candidates are placed on one of CCO’s university campuses, and the position is based in that campus city. Campus placements are confirmed after a hiring decision, taking into account CCO’s ministry needs and the candidate’s fit.

  • Occasional weekend and evening work will be required; flexibility in schedule may be required from time to time to accommodate program requirements. 
  • Occasional Travel will be required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• All employees of CCO are required to participate in the mission of the New Evangelization within the Catholic Church and work toward the propagation of the Gospel. This includes taking the initiative to lead CCO Catholic Faith studies, share the kerygma (through tools like the Ultimate Relationship booklet), and/or participation in the evangelization efforts of CCO, including opportunities to participate in CCO Missions.
• Actively practicing Catholic, in good standing, willing to uphold Catholic moral teachings, while leading a life that exhibits fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Therefore, all CCO employees must be baptized Catholic.
• Maintain an active sacramental and spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to personal prayer, reading Scripture, regular confession, and Mass attendance.
• Must be able to meet CCO’s Responsible Ministry Policies.
• Must be compliant with all applicable Personnel Policies.
• All CCO staff have the unique opportunity and privilege to rely on God’s providence. The successful candidate will develop their own team of financial and prayer supporters who contribute directly to the funds for their salary.
